Linden, Eruanion, and Alenee

June 05, 1048 0905

as Linden picks up each of the figurines that was, according to her theory, out of place, she gets a rush of vertigo. By the third one, she has to stop and rest for a bit. After a short while, her mind starts to clear, and she feels she can continue. Eventually, she gets all of the pieces where she wants them to be, though she is exhausted by the effort. As she puts the final piece down on the '56', she collapses, and sees not anything happen.

Erunánion shakes himself, and looks around the room. "Linden?" He drops to one knee beside her, and looks over at Alenee. "The figurines are doing this. When i placed the first one i felt my mind cloud, and i was tired. What we are doing has to be right. Do you have any ideas of how to wake her? I think the figurines drain our, i don't know, our energy or life-force, something like that."

He looks over at the parchment. "The thing to decide is whether she has collapsed because she placed the last piece correctly or not. What do you think?"

Alenee, Linden, & Eruainon

The question as to whether or not the move was correct becomes moot as there is a grating sound followed by a slow movement of the pieces. They each seem to be pulled down, through the parchment, as if someone were exerting force enough to push them through the solid stone of the base. As each one disappears, a statue from around the perimeter of the hall slowly turns toward the coffin and a beam of colored light goes from the statue to the side of the coffin. As one of these beams shoot out, Alenee discovers that she is between the statue from whence it came and the coffin. Pain shoots out in her left hand, as it feels as though someone is driving a spear through it. Before she can shout a warning, another beam strikes Eruanion in the leg, with much the same results.

A grunt of pain bursts forth from Erunánion's lips. Seeing that Linden has awoken, he looks at her and with a straining voice says "Linden, stay where you are! (Assuming you are not in the path of a beam) Don't get up!" He looks down at his leg in shock and pain, then tries to move it from the path of the beam. If this is successful he checks to see if any damage his been done, then will try to find a way to help Linden and Alenee out of the paths of the beams.

Yelling in pain, Alenee dives to the ground out of the path of the beams. She drags herself up against the wall, moving carefully to avoid the other beams. Once safely out of the way, Alenee checks her hand for damage.

The damage from the beam seems to be minimal, though the area is still sore all of the way through where it hit you. As the two beams are allowed to go through to the coffin, there are a series of audible clicks, and the lower half of the front of the cairn area where the thing had been buried falls forward, revealing a space behind.

With a whispered prayer of thanks that it was her left hand that took the injury, Alenee retrieves her bow from the ground. She carefully grips it with her left hand, making sure the beam has not affected her too badly, then draws back an arrow. She aims at the opening, then looks over at Eruanion. "You go first, I'll cover you from here."

The head constable looks at the group of you as he is brought his tea. "So, not a very talkative bunch, hmm? Well, let me just reassure you that I am very thorough when it comes to figuring out what happened in various cases, and this one will be no different."

He sips some more tea, then puts the cup down. "Though, there is a part of your story that has me concerned. Why would a respected artisan like Lord Reevelord decide suddenly to give up everything he's worked his whole life for to disobey his employer and be doing something else?
