Melisande
Portia looks confused, but does not make a sound. She fidgets herself, then says "I have no clue what you are doing. Please, if my question made you uncomfortable, I'm sorry, but this whole episode has made all of us uncomfortable, and if we could just know something about yours plans for us, I'm sure we would all be more comfortable." loveme4whoiam
[OOC: Many, many apologies for my enforced absence. No internet connection leaves 8 pages of unread posts <_< Sorry again/OOC Erunánion looks down at the cloth, and moves to pick that up as well, with slightly less vigilance as before. Having done that, he examines both book and cloth.
Kethruch
Linden, Alenee, and EruanionJune 05, 1048 0914 The cloth seems unremarkable other than it is stiff with time. The book seems to be lighter than you expect for its size, and the binding cracks as you pick it up. There are some faded, unrecognizable symbols on the cover, which seems to have been made of some kind of reptilian skin. As you are examining the book, there is a commotion behind you, and the sound of heavy footsteps are heard coming from the corridor. Helstar, Tiemmo, Krixox, and PortiaJune 05, 1048 0910 The constable looks at all of you carefully, then takes a heavy breath. "What do you know of the history of the area you were in? The Hills of the Kings have been the burial grounds for the royalty of Toof more more than a millenium. There was a time when Toof was not the marvel it is now, and the kings not as, how shall I say, civilized. There are a lot of legends of some of the less moral kings took vast treasures into their secret tombs and set up mystical processes to ensure that they would come back. Most of the tombs like this have been found and catalogued, though there are a couple that have never been found. We've had a suspicion that someone has been looking for one of these tombs not for the riches, but for the power of bringing a dead despot back to life. Anything you know that could link anyone who you've come into contact with with this kind of activity would be looked on favorably.
Peregrine
"Someone's coming!" Alenee says to her party as she steps back behind cover. She sets her pike against the wall within easy reach, then draws back an arrow.
Emry
Linden gets shakily to her feet, puts the mace in its holder at her belt, and unsheathes a massive battle axe. "Poeved, please let them be friendly...." she murmurs.
Kethruch
Alenee, Linden and EruanionJune 05 1048 0915 The footsteps draw near and the reason for them becomes evident. Several men in the livery of the Toof guard come into range of the torchlight. They stop when they see Alenee. "Excuse me." The first one says. "I have been requested to bring anyone with any knowledge of this area to the constable. Would you please come with us?" He sees Alenee's drawn bow and stops short. "There is no need for violence." He pauses, then adds quickly. "And in case you're wondering, the laws allow you to keep whatever you found here, as this is an undocumented site, and therefore not under the protection of the laws of the rest of the Hill of Kings, if that's what you're worried about." He then motions back up the corridor, motioning you to follow.
Malchik
Tiemmo shrugs. "I have spent a lot of time in and around the hills but I do not recall seeing anything strange until now. But then I was more concerned with survival. All I can tell you is, whatever else this Reevelord character did, he killed one of the guards himself. You can tell by the wounds. No one here could have made them."
loveme4whoiam
Erunánion sheathes(sp?) his sword, and puts the book and the cloth carefully into his haversack (if i have one  ). He looks at his two companions, seeing if they are willing to leave or not. Being slightly pedantic, he asks "May i see some seal, or identification of the constable?" Emry
Linden lowers the battle axe and then leans against the sarcophagus. "A moment, sir. We were recently in battle with some foul minions and need to catch our breath. That is why we showed arms at you; we though you might have been more. We will be along shortly." To Eruanion, "These are the watch guard of Toof; I recognize the livery from before. We should probably go with them." And more quietly to him. "Take all that you find in that crawl space. If it was so well hidden by that puzzle, then it is probably vauable. If you need help carrying things, I'll help." Linden looks around the room (not the hidden crawl space) to see if there is anything they could take.
wesaynothin
"And it looked like he turned into a lizard-demon, which I am pretty sure is not supposed to happen." Helstar chimes in. He goes back to frowning in a thoughtful manner within moments.
