Linden, Eruanion, and Alenee

Eruanion quickly abandons the attempt, as the book seems to almost crumble as he tries to open it. He does, however, accomplish a great feat by not damaging the book by trying to open it while in transit.

The guard is correct, and you soon are within the castle, indeed, within the chambers of the constable. The rooms are empty, but there seems to be some activity in the courtyard. There, a group of people sit, apparently having some kind of breakfast. The guard seems confused but leads you into the area.

"The Overseer was nowhere to be found, milord, but I found these in an unrecorded tomb at the buildsite. They may have some information on the location of or the disappearance of Lord Reevelord as well."

With that, he bows, and excuses himself from the room.

"Greetings, and congratulations on finding an unrecorded tomb. Interesting, though, how you came by it, as I do not recall any application for an excavation other than that idiot Beadle. You're not from his worksite, are you? No, no of course not. These people were." He indicates a group sitting very uncomforatbly with him. They are bloodied and bruised, and seem to be adventurers, like yourselves. Between the group and the constable, however, is a tray piled high with pastries.

Your uncomfortable repartee with the constable is interrupted by a guard approaching leading a group of three battered and bloody people. (see above for dialogue).

Helstar looks at the newcomers, then turns to the constable.

"Now, since it seems you have a new group to harass, would you be kind enough to let us freshen up a bit? All this..." Helstar makes motions to the scratches and bruises on him and his clothes "...is getting a tad uncomftorable."

As soon as she spots the food, all of Alenee's concerns are forgotten. Her last meal is a distant memory by now, and she almost dives for the pile. The first pastry vanishes almost instantly. She waves at the guards, a new pastry in her free hand. "So what's going on here? Start from the beginning if it's not too much trouble." Her words are barely understandable through the food in her mouth.

Erunánion looks at Alenee almost dive onto the plate of pastries with slight amusement, but then his stomach reminds him of the last time he ate. Attempting to be slightly more aloof, he walks over and casually picks up one, then two, and starts eating.

"Indeed, i would like to know why we have been summoned here."

The constable watches in what can only be described as horror as the new party descends upon the pastries. He quickly motions for another tray to be brought.

"I do believe that some explanation is in order from all sides. This group," he motions toward the party already sitting, "was found among several dead bodies in the overseer's building, with no sign of the overseer and a strange tale to explain the disappearance. You, I am informed, were under the hire of the overseer to investigate some strange occurences at the dig site. I was wondering if the two were somehow connected, and also, if you would care to tell me if any of you know each other."

He sits back, awaiting either the pastries to run out or the first person to try to explain it to him.

Tiemmo, trying to cram the pastries in to free his hands for grabbing more sprays crumbs as he answers. "I don't know them. I don't even know those I came in with. I met them only yesterday."

Linden looks at the other group with curiousity. "I wonder why they are here??..."

She then quickly shakes herself, remembering the task at hand. She stands up a bit straighter, approaches the constable, and with a precise short bow, proceeds to make her report. Although she is as hungry as the others, she decided that information might be more important at this moment.

"Milord, my name is Linden, a novice paladin and follower of Poeved. My companions here - Alenee and Eruanion - were hired by Master Bengt Reevelord to search out - and if need be - eliminate intruders which were harassing the workers and hampering the construction of the royal tombs. On our first night, we encountered these intruders and summarily dispatched them. In the course of our actions, we also discovered the entryway to a tomb. From information I had researched previously, we believed that this tomb was the resting place of Astanth, a name you might recall from history. "

"We decided to enter the tomb to make sure the nocturnal intruders were not using it as a hideout and to eliminate any other creatures which might be lurking within the tombs and could injure the workers above ground. After some careful searching, we found the main burial chamber and to our horror, discovered that we had initiated a sequence of events which caused Astanth to rise from his sarcophagus. We fought and destroyed the fell creature, but lost one of our party members in the process. It was soon after this battle, that your guards entered the tombs and requested that we come and talk to you. Sir, I ask that you send someone back to the tomb to gather his remains and see the Jouko gets a proper burial. He was not our companion for long, but he died bravely."

Linden sways slightly and then regains her formal posture. "Forgive me, sir, but we are battleweary. May we sit and take refreshment? I'd be glad to answer any other questions you might have." She looks expectantly to the man seated before her.

Helstar finally falls to his stomach, and swaps a pastry before anyone else can grab for it. He takes a bite, then turns to the constable.

"I, personally, know nothing of them. All I know is what I have told you. And I believe my partners are the same. Now, if you please, I would really like a warm bath right now."
