But, I would like to open up discussion on WHY this would not be possible.Because I know nothing of modding, I would like to know what hardships modders would face if attempting to add a component that allows people to play Skyrim online in a controlled online co-op mode?I do have a general design concept, and I may have an idea on a way to score funding for maintenance of such a project, but being that I don't know anything about modding, programming, etc... Importing multiplayer code into a game developed for single player without access to the source material is a major headache. 2. Legal trouble. Any project that managed to successfully integrate MP/Co-op would likely be shutdown. 3. Your funding idea - see #2. Would it be just as difficult if you were just to give someone control of a follower / companion or if limitations were in place to ensure both games were identical builds? Basically, is it possible and simply difficult or is it completely impossible? 2. This would be the definitive "No" as no one would be interested in doing something that Bethesda doesn't want in their games. But, has their been anything legal expressed that this is not allowed? If not, I would be willing to open dialogue with Bethesda legal and discuss how such a development would be beneficial to their bottom line. Provided it's possible, and there's someone who is confident it can be executed, I'd be willing to do the leg work to attempt to get official support. - Of course, only after we can provide them with details on how we'll accomplish our goal and an interest in doing so. 3. The funding would not be for the development, but for the server that would allow connection. However, I understand that wouldn't be considered a gray area for them. If that's the case, is there a way to have PCs communicate directly to one another without the need for a server? Thanks for the response by the way... I know it seems far fetched, but if there's any possibility, even if it's tons of work and takes a long time to develop, this is something I feel would bring new life to the game and would surely garner media attention. To clarify though, this is already far more than I am proposing. In my mind's eye, a Co-Op Skyrim wouldn't have a means of communication in-game, you simply take control of one of the player's companions or followers. Well, at least, that would be a more feasible start IMO....I understand it not easy, and I may be wasting my time here. But, I also know that the video sharing and screenshot sharing phenomenon is HUGE with Skyrim players, as we all want to share our unique experiences with one another, and to be able to do that live and in-person is something I at least want to try and pitch to modders here. And who knows? If development on something like Skywind and other major mods can take place, why not Skyrim Online Coop?I stumbled upon the website for this underground "Skyrim Online" and apparently, it's been in development 2011-2014. I can't test myself, but already see it's incomplete anyways. Being that I know nothing of coding, is there any modder that wants to have a look and see if that aids in a starting point for a simpler Co-Op Skyrim?
