Alternate Independent Vegas Light Side Ending

Hello,

I always play good guys, and none of the ending options in New Vegas really reflected what i wanted to do. This may be a bit utopian for some, but its been 200 years since the war, and we're still living off the scraps and not progressing towards a stable, sane culture where every petty faction is fighting for the most power. I'm no modder, and I have no idea of the feasibility of a project like this, but what the hell, here it is.

I tend to lean towards an independent Vegas ending, but I hated the final interaction with the NCR General. I would love to see an ending that went something like this regarding the various factions:

1. The pc sides with Yes man, truly gains control of a beefed up securitron army, no cryptic last words from yes man, and becomes the de facto leader of new vegas. You use your metal army to patrol roads, flush out raider nests, protect citizens and caravans, hunt deathclaws and nightstalkers, etc. You become final word and arbitrator over the dozen or so independent factions of the mojave.

2. Boomers - They adore you, and you gradually use your influence to help them overcome their xenophobia, start trading locally, definetly stop shelling everyone who wanders by, yet retain their independence and identity, and serving as the air force/artillery in defense of new vegas should the need arise.

3. Chairmen - with Benny gone, I liked these guys. They keep the tops, pretty much continue on as before.

4. White gloves - Creepy, elitist cannibal f*#@s. They're gone, and the casino is available for another tribe.

5. Omerta - Even though you get rid of the bosses, Cachinos now in charge, and he's no better. I like that Gomorrah is the most sinful casino, but get rid of the omertas and give it to someone who doesn't enslave and murder the whores.

6. Remnants - You appreciate their help at the last battle, but the enclaves time is done, rightfully so, they return to obscurity, except maybe cannibal johnson, I like that guy, I'm sure i can find him a job somewhere.

7. Brotherhood - I love the brotherhoods internal structure, code of honor, etc, but I hate their primary focus of hoarding and protecting prewar weapons. Maybe 'm spoiled since I first met them in DC under Lyons. I would like to see Veronica (and the pc, if he becomes a member) be successful in shifting their focus to other technologies, and eventually to a more humanitarian role in the area, like Lyons Brotherhood was, instead of patrolling the I15 stealing energy weapons from anyone they meet

8. Great Khans - Love their independence and tribalism, but hate raiders. Would like to see them take over Gomorrah to earn a living without raiding (while still holding redrocks), and also become leaders in medicine production (while still dealing a bit of chems on the side)

9. Kings - Move into the Ultra Luxe while continuing to run Freeside. The king becomes a friend and sorta leuteneit to the pc.

10. Followers - I really like these guys. If you can get past their christian roots, the free sharing of info across the wasteland, love it. I want to see their influence grow, see them open schools and libraries and hospitals.

11. Jacobstown - I love this place! I never played Fallout 1 or 2, so my sole experience with sane supermutants is restricted to Fawkes. I'd love to see this place grow, open trade wth the rest of the mojave and become an integral part of the region, while also functioning as a safe refuge for mutants and ghouls. I'd love to see more quests in Jacobstown, as well as being able to enlist them as allys in the hoover dam battle.

12. NCR - I want to get them outta the mojave without making them enemies. I'm disgusted by the bitter springs incident, and I hate that they developed a bureaucratic government run by the rich (eerily similar to some prewar governments), and I dont want them in the mojave. That said, they're basically 'good' and I'd like to see them become neighboring allys, maybe like this. After you save the president, but before the battle, you arrange a meeting with the president and head general in the area. You make it clear to them that you will resist their occupation of the mojave, but support them in the battle with caeser. The fact that you have a robot army, brotherhood, great khan, boomer, etc, as allys gives you quite a bit of credibility. You make them an offer. They leave the mojave and hoover dam, and you will help them defeat the legion as well as sell them half the energy produced by the dam. They gain an ally on their eastern flank as well as access to tons of electricity. Should the battle prove successful, you will even support future offensive actions against the legion in Arizona etc. Should they refuse, their army would be crushed in a battle that they would be fighting on two fronts. Encourage them to concentrate on stabilizing the land they already control, and not to spread themselves too thin. Maybe this requires passing a speech check. Or, they agree on the condition that you prove your ability and power isn't a sham by demanding that you bring them the head of caeser, at which point you and a companion or two would have to go to the lions den and return alive!

Anyway, thats the ending I wanted, anyone else? I realize that its unlikely that this mod will be made, as its a personnal vision and probably a pretty ambitious project. In the unlikely event that there is an experienced modder who shares this vision of a post battle New Vegas and wants to give it a shot, Cheers! Otherwise, I'm curious if anyone else was disappointed with the ending scenarios.

Some Fantastic ideas here, like with the NCR, Yes Man, Boomers and the BOS.

But I can't really see the Great Khans becoming city folk, maybe they could take over the fiends vault after you wipe them out?

These are all really good ideas, but I can't really see them working unless Obsidian decides to make some DLC that continues after New Vegas's fate is decided, like broken steel sort of.

Actually I think that Red Lucy Might be able to take over Gommorah, like say she moves her arena there or builds another one.

Great ideas! I may use some of them in Unknown Origins, as I'm still not sure about the direction I want to go with it. Of course, I'll only do it with your permission, and I'll credit you fully.

Nice, but I always hated killing Mr. House. It mad me feel so bad about myself... What if the Courier becomes president of a new Mojave Republic, with Mr. House simply the mayor of New Vegas, a ton in the Mojave Republic?

2. Boomers - They adore you, and you gradually use your influence to help them overcome their xenophobia, start trading locally, definetly stop shelling everyone who wanders by, yet retain their independence and identity, and serving as the air force/artillery in defense of new vegas should the need arise.

Totally agree.

3. Chairmen - with Benny gone, I liked these guys. They keep the tops, pretty much continue on as before.

Agreed. The Tops was my favorite casino. Gomorrah was too raunchy (even for my perverted tastes) and the Ultra-Luxe was too uptight. The Tops is a great swingin' party joint, and I love the lingo the Chairmen use. Plus, S*censored* is a genuinely good guy, even willing to help the Courier out when you reveal how much of a weasel Benny is. I think he'll manage the Tops just fine.

4. White gloves - Creepy, elitist cannibal f*#@s. They're gone, and the casino is available for another tribe.

I disagree. Though I admit, the White Gloves are elitists and a bit creepy, they're no longer cannibals. Only one of them wants to return to cannibalism. And there are some good people in there, like Chauncey. I believe the White Gloves deserve a second chance. Maybe ditch the snooty 'tudes, lose the masks, and lower their prices. I like how classy the Ultra-Luxe is compared to Gomorrah, but I hated how exclusive it was.

5. Omerta - Even though you get rid of the bosses, Cachinos now in charge, and he's no better. I like that Gomorrah is the most sinful casino, but get rid of the omertas and give it to someone who doesn't enslave and murder the whores.

Agreed. The new management should keep the prostitudes, but actually pay them a generous salary for their work, instead of enslaving them with chem addictions.

6. Remnants - You appreciate their help at the last battle, but the enclaves time is done, rightfully so, they return to obscurity, except maybe cannibal johnson, I like that guy, I'm sure i can find him a job somewhere.

I disagree. I liked all of the Enclave Remnants, not just Cannibal Johnson. I think they all deserve high-profile positions in the new Mojave Republic government.

Totally agree. Veronica deserves a happy ending.

8. Great Khans - Love their independence and tribalism, but hate raiders. Would like to see them take over Gomorrah to earn a living without raiding (while still holding redrocks), and also become leaders in medicine production (while still dealing a bit of chems on the side)

Completely agree. The Great Khans should take over Gomorrah. Maybe let Red Lucy host monster fights there.

9. Kings - Move into the Ultra Luxe while continuing to run Freeside. The king becomes a friend and sorta leuteneit to the pc.

Disagree. I believe everyone deserves a second chance, the White Gloves included. I think the Kings should be given some official support in their management of Freeside, with the King as the mayor and close contact of President Courier. I loved the Kings, especially the King himself. He's a genuinely good guy.

10. Followers - I really like these guys. If you can get past their christian roots, the free sharing of info across the wasteland, love it. I want to see their influence grow, see them open schools and libraries and hospitals.

Totally agree.

I'd love to see more quests in Jacobstown, as well as being able to enlist them as allys in the hoover dam battle.

Agree. It'd be wonderful to see Jacobstown open up trade and relations with the other settlements of the Mojave Wasteland. In the NCR, some super mutants have gained NCR citizenship. It'd be great if the Mojave started seeing super mutants as people just like them.

You read my mind. A neighboring ally to the Mojave Republic. All their bases, camps, and stations could be used by the new Mojave Republic military, but they could still keep the Mojave Outpost and their embassy on the Strip.

Now, some suggestions, as you forgot a few things.

Crimson Caravan Company - After their dishonorable dealings with Cassidy Caravans and prosecution from both the NCR and the Mojave Republic, the Crimson Caravan Company falls apart. They're soon replaced by the now booming Happy Trails Caravan Company, following the clearing of the White Legs from Zion Valley.

Van Graffs - After their dishonorable dealings with Cassidy Caravans and prosecution from both the NCR and the Mojave Republic, the Van Graff's energy weapons company falls apart. The Gun Runners can now properly produce energy weapons without fear of their caravans getting attacked by people in black combat armor. 'Cause I loved the Gun Runners. They were awesome.

Fiends - Completely annihilated. 'Nuff said.

The Misfits - They could either reach high-ranking positions in the NCR military, or they could join the Mojave Republic's military instead and reach even higher ranks, right near the top.

Goodsprings - Goodsprings soon becomes a bustling farming and ranching town. With the Deathclaws cleared from Quarry Junction, travel along the interstate booms, with traders stopping in at Goodsprings from all over to trade for the town's Bighorner products and crops. Plus, there are plenty of tourists that show up to visit the grave where President Courier rose from the dead. And I'd really like to see some of those ruined buildings rebuilt. The schoolhouse could re-open, too, for all the kids the town'll have with its population boom.

Primm - With the Powder Gangers gone and Meyers in place as the new sheriff (and with Beagle still as his deputy), not only is the Vikki and Vance Casion re-opened, but Old Laurie returns to re-open the Bison Steve Hotel. Primm soon becomes a bustling resort town, seeing all kinds of tourists on their way to and from New Vegas. Vance's gun is returned, becoming a prime attraction for people visiting the town.

Boulder City - Completely rebuilt and populated with the families of people who work at the close-by Hoover Dam.

Sloan - No longer an NCR town, Sloan becomes an official mining town for the Mojave Republic. With the Deathclaws cleared, it even sees traders and tourists on their way to and from New Vegas.

Novac - Rather than returning from their journey to clean up Novac after the Legion assault, the Bright Followers return just in time to defend Novac from Caesar's Legion, using their advanced energy weapons to fend the Legionaries off. Under the leadership of Jason Bright, Novac becomes a bustling industrial town, manufacturing technology, machines, and even working vehicles that run clean on energy cells.

Nipton - Resettled, becoming a respectable town like before "Mayor Joseph B. Steyn Esquire III" turned it into a slutmachine.

Nelson - Also resettled, mostly filled with slaves who were freed by the NCR and Mojave Republic following the destruction of Caesar's Legion.

Black Mountain - Becomes a secondary super mutant settlement, opening up trade and relations with the rest of the Mojave, with Neil as the mayor.

NCR Correctional Facility - After the NCR pulls out of the area, the Correctional Facility is taken over by the Mojave Republic and re-opened as a prison for the criminals of the newly founded nation.

Fortification Hill - With Caesar gone, the Fort becomes the new capital of the Mojave Republic, with President Courier's office right where Caesar's old tent used to be.

Boone - He becomes head of the Mojave Republic military, and a trusted adviser to President Courier.

Cass - She becomes the head of the Economy Bureau for the Mojave Republic, and a close adviser to President Courier.

Veronica - She becomes the new Elder of the Mojave chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel, and a close ally and friend to President Courier. She's even reunited with Christine after the Courier convinces her to return to the Mojave at the end of the events of Dead Money.

Arcade - He becomes the head of the Bureau of Science and Medicine for the Mojave Republic, and a close adviser to President Courier.

Raul - He becomes head of the Engineering Department of the Mojave Republic, and a close trusted adviser to President Courier.

Lily - With the cure for Nightkin Schizophrenia found, Lily's mind reaches clarity, while still remembering her grandchildren. She soon becomes a diplomat for super mutants in the Mojave Republic government, and a trusted adviser to President Courier.

Rex - He returns to the King's side, and even has puppies with Roxie following the events of Old World Blues.

ED-E - Since ED-E has both Poseidon Energy AND Eyebot Duraframe data in its banks, and since the Brotherhood of Steel and the Followers of the Apocalypse only want one of the two sets, ED-E receives both upgrades, becoming a constant and close companion to President Courier, often delivering messages between offices at the capital. The Brotherhood of Steel develops a small army of Duraframe Eyebots to help in their humanitarian efforts, while the Followers of the Apocalypse help harness the energy of the sun and improve HELIOS One.

How's that sound?

Sadly they didn't release the expected "Continue after the end DLC". So yeah pretty much it just ends once you finish the main quest which is a terrible thing....not that there were the big changes you'd expect to see after the ending for FO3 either. NV manages to give us DLCs with ending which should bring huge changes...and only LR changes -anything- for anyone other than the player, well small sidequest for Veronica after DM that's it.
