Rotheran Quest

I came across Rotheran while doing another quest. I cleared the building with the fancy gismo (Polyon? whatever). In doing so, I found that wonderful ice blade weapon and I guess I found a ring. Then I left without going into the Arena because I was eager to get on with the quest that I had in front of me.

Of course, later I was given the quest to save whatshername (Adusams....). So I went back to the Rotheran stronghold. She was there. I freed the slaves. I don't have the ring any longer, so she is really upset.

First of all, I probably sold the ring. (Yeah, I know that was dumb, but all these rings look alike when I get into a selling frenzy!)

Second, I have the sword to return to the fine lady in Ebonheart.

The real questions are:

What is the ring referred to as? How will I identify it if I really find it again?

When you sell something to a vendor, will he have it in stock when you go back? Especially unique items like this.

If I never find the ring, is there any real loss here? In other words, is the freeing of this woman important to the game or just another virtuous act by my Nord hero?

Finally, and it pains me to ask, if I get real desperate and decide to cheat, what is this ring referred to as? {you know what I mean, Fancy_plot_ring_whatever}.

The stock you sell is always available to be bought back. The question is do you remember where you sold it? Her ring was one of divine intervention (IIRC). It will have her name on it. Generally anything with a personal name on it is probably going to be used in a quest somewhere - Julielles (sp?) amulet, Beluelles (Sp?) silver bowl etc.

Can't help you with the console command. I don't use 'em.

Bad luck, annoying when that happens. I usually keep anything named and hang on to it till the quest comes up, however I came across some books in a chest in Ebonherat and sold them. Unfourtunatly liitle did I realsie that they bolonged to someone important and where part of a quest. Have therefore been unable to refind them and complete the quest (one of the Bal Monager ones)

Whew, I found it. I went to Gnisis and there it was in the inventory of one of the vendors. I think I have learned a lesson. {I know I've said that before}

The strange thing is that this ring was so cheap. I was ready to pay up to 100,000 for it and it was going for 30! I'm glad that vendor did not know how desperate I was.

Glad you resolved it! I always sell to only a couple of vendors for the very reason of having done the same thing myself in the past. General rule is not to do too much exploring until after you have done all the quests you want to do.
