willf0rce
How about a Blade Runner quest? It could start with Cliff Briscoe revealing himself as an agent from the commonwealth who is undercover, that would explain why he has That Gun, and he's trying to track down a group of androids who escaped, like Dr Zimmer in FO3. He hires you to track down these androids and retire them, and gives you That Gun and a few leads, and you have to follow the trail of evidence to track them down. They might have infiltrated into some of the factions already in vegas, like one of them might be a member of one of the casino families, one could be posing as an NCR ranger and one could be a Fiend leader or in the Great Khans. Obviously the androids would have to be super tough and hard to kill. I might have a go at making this myself, just thought I'd post it here anyway just in case. edit: Just thought of something else, since in FO3 you were supposed to sympathise with the android and let him go or whatever, it would have to be obvious that these androids were bad guys and had to be stopped. I'm thinking maybe they were tired of being used as servants/slaves and plan to get their revenge on humanity, so they kidnapped the commonwealth's best geneticist with plans to force him to make a virus to wipe out humanity, then they killed a bunch of dudes and stole a vertibird. Then they crashed in the Mojave, and so the first place Cliff sends you to is the wreckage of the vertibird to look for clues, and there you find maybe a holotape, or a body or something that leads you somewhere else, etc etc the investigation begins. chrisinnyshotgun
- explore a Soviet bunker for information on "The Day" aka Great War via request of an NPC - before you flame me, the Soviet Union WAS still around in the game world at the time of the Great War. Though any sort of info found by holotape, computer terminal, etc would not be canon(canon-wise no one knows who started the Great War) there is some potential here, though it's likely such a mod idea would be a massive project(I''m not a modder o I don't know what may have to be built via GECK for such a mod) Hm... a good entry into this concept: In the high mountains near Jacobstown, you encounter Old Joe, a strange ghoul with an unusual accent and a thick mustache who lives in a shack next to a particularly ancient vertibird. The vertibird has a bear decal on it, though if you look close you'd notice it wasn't the NCR's two-headed bear. Old Joe has exactly two desires: vodka and getting the vertibird running again. You can help him out with both. I like the idea Greymane, allow me to expand on it a little bit: Prior to finding Old Joe, you come across an old, barely functional terminal in a ruined building outside of New Vegas that mentions all personnel must return to their nearest "listening post of the motherland". Upon arrival, Old Joe introduces himself and then interrorgatges you as to how an AMERICAN came to be there. Afterwards, he explains who he is, where he was originally from and admits how he desperately wishes to return home. Thus the part about vodka and repairing his transport. After helping Old Joe, he reveals the existance of a pre-war bunker under his shack - untouched since the Great War. Inside is a wealth of information about the events of the Great War. He allows you to enter, and also mentions a character in New Vegas named George Lincoln who is intrested in information dating back to the Great War, and supposedly pays a handsome bounty for such information. This could be a grand idea, as the Fallout world has enough blank spots in it's history that you could add in almost anything while remaining lore friendly, though of course any information not taken from the official falloout timeline would be non-canon. zwizard72112
I very much like thefirewarriors' idea. Although i was thinking of making more missions of that sort maybe someone could release a .esm containing like the shack and stuff and a .esp with the "Guns of Navarro" quest as well as the models and then the modder could periodically release new "episodes" that add new quests to the shack and continue the old man's story. I was thinking maybe also adding the Massacre At Bittersprings or the first battle of Hoover Dam or the fight at Helios One between the Brotherhood and the NCR. Of course there are some constraints to this sort of thing. One being that if you include any members of an existing faction you cannot have them wearing their faction armor nor can you have them listed as a member of that faction, doing so would cause the Courier's reputation with them to change. And also, you could have the Old man's house contain "trophies" from his campaigns and battle. And the player could take the trophies after completing the memory they pertain too. They could be something like a "Great Khan's Trail Carbine" or a "Legionary's Gladius" or maybe a weapon recoverd from a fallen friend at any one of those battles. and also the quests could be triggered by asking the old man about the various objects. Nadimos
I dont have an idea right now, but i woudl like to have more funny quests. More humor for the wasteland! Edited February 9, 2011 by Nadimos
zwizard72112
My other idea was also based on thefirewarriors' idea. the first involves upgrading the quests "Restoring Hope/We Are Legion" which shows an invasion of Camp Forlorn Hope or Nelson (depending upon who's side you are on) and "No Gods, No Masters/ Veni, Vidi, Vici/ Eureka!/All or Nothing" which shows the second Battle of Hoover Dam. "Restoring Hope/ We Are Legion" will have the section where the player attacks Forlorn Hope (In We Are Legion) or Nelson(Restoring Hope 3rd section) upgraded so when the player does the NCR quest they will learn of an impending attack on Forlorn Hope from Legion forces in Nelson rather than busting in and killing Dead Sea on their own the player must go back to Forlorn Hope and notify Major Polatli who will begin prepping the base for the attack. the courier will then help in the battle, the Legion attacks Forlorn Help and with the couriers help the NCR pushes the Legion back to and Nelson and kills Dead Sea. Alternatively if the player sides with Caesar's Legion they will simply take part in the battle on the opposite side and the NCR will not push the Legion back to Nelson. In the end game quest it would simple be a longer push to the Legate's Camp/ West Power Plant with more stages and events such as NCR vertibirds coming in for support and the player having to either kill Legionaries trying to shoot them down or having to shoot them down him/herself. simplywayne90
--------------------Afterworld Mod Inspiration-------------------- This is not actually a new mod idea, I'm recommending a unique series that was released some time ago called "Afterworld" The show had a very unique twist on a post-apocolyptic America, the show is about 130 episodes long with each episode being 3-4 minutes long, and takes visuals into something between 2D animation (Cartoon/Anime) and 3D (Real Life/CGI) in what was nicknamed 2.5D. I felt that the show has a lot of promise for ideas and so I wanted to share it with my readers. Here is a small intro into the plot. "Afterworld follows the exploits of Russell Shoemaker: an ad executive from Seattle who was on a business trip to New York City at the time of The Fall – the disappearance of almost everyone on the planet, as well as the sudden loss of technology. As the series unfolds, we follow Russell’s lonely, and often dangerous, trek across the country in the hopes of finding that his wife and daughter survived." And here is the first episode I believe. simplywayne90
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/8917/vaulttecquickmake.png While discussing all the Vault scenarios people thought up....I decided to repost them here since they could make the basis of future quest mods possibly! --------------------Fallout Players New Vault Experiments-------------------- I went back and added on to peoples ideas and thought I'd let you see them ----- The water purifier leads directly to the vault walkways submerging the vault waist deep in water at all times, perhaps pre-war scientists assume the occurance of shallow seas with the new climate of the planet? ----- Every 12-15 hours various non-essential vault systems are turned off for hours, such systems could include plumbing, food dispensers, lights, etc. forcing dwellers to become highly adaptive to a rapid change enviroment setting ----- The food extruders are all at the end of a fitness course, thus dwellers are forced to become physically optimized over time. ----- A Vault where half of the population is secretly given the ability to spy on the other half at all times through secret cameras and montiors installed in thier pip-boys, this could be as a study of social interactions and honesty as well as temptation of those doing the spying. This is a fun question. How about a vault full of androids with emotion chip A.I.? Of course they have all gone insane and the place is trashed. Could be some fun quests with the survivors or audio logs. Or speaking of insane. The courier enters a mental health vault where drugs were being tested. Everything looks normal until it is revealed that the Doctors are actually the patients and they took charge. The doctors are being experimented on and tortured. Now the courier has some interesting choices to make. Does it serve the doctors right? Should they be rescued? I really like the second idea, The Vault's expermint was to see if those with mental disorders could survive if forced with no alternative then to care for themselves, as well as see if those too unstable for pre-war society could adapt better to a post-war enviroment. A Vault-Tec experiment where the only people allowed to enter were those found to be mentally ill. Ranging from those with simple diseases like delusions and advanced phobias like OCD, to those of more violent mental states like paranoid schizo's and split personalities of violent natures. The people would enter before the bombs dropped, and the Vault would've acted as a sanitarium until the bombs were dropped and the door automatically sealed. Trapping the limited sane staff with the horde of the mentally diseased.Eventually those with sanity are weeded out, either by the violence of patients, or simple aging. Then the sanist of the insane are conditioned by the vault's computer system to then take over as the new doctors, the cycle repeats for 2 generations. But as we all know, "The Vaults were never really intended to save anyone" --------------------Khats Amazing Vault Experiments-------------------- I like the idea of social experiments, and find them potentially valid when dealing with concerns about rebuilding a new society post-apocalypse. I've been considering Vaults like the following for Fallout. 1) A vault dedicated to the study of unfettered capitalism. The original inhabitants would be picked according to economic beliefs, all educational material would be oriented towards capitalist indoctrination and Objectivist-style philosophy, and everything provided by Vault-Tec would require purchase (down to the coin-operated water fountains and the ammo vending machines). What Is Found: The vault is still sealed. All occupants are dead, the result of revolution and the ultimate inability of the those who prosper on the backs of the working class to survive the loss of them. 2) A vault dedicated to the study of gender inequality. All medicine is regulated through highly secure Vault-Tec dispensers. Original inhabitants are teenagers and are chosen with a 4-1 ratio of females over males, with only females assigned to positions of authority or security. All educational materials are designed to lack any mention of males except in a subservient context, including a doctoring of historical texts to rewrite all notable historical figures as women. Likewise, entertainment media paint a strict matriarchal image of society with males relegated to a second-class and largely sexual role. Medicine for pregnant women is subtly altered to cause the first generations to be born predominantly female. However, medicine dispensed afterword is doctored to cause a progressively higher number of male births until the gender gap eventually reaches a 4-1 dominance of males over females. What Is Found: The Vault ran smoothly and successfully for several generations until the democratic matriarchy voted (in violation of Vault-Tec directives) to open the Vault early for trade with other Vaults and outside settlements. Severe culture-shock, compounded by overwhelming evidence contradicting their indoctrination, trigger a hyper-conservative withdrawal. Some, including nearly the entire male population, escape and join the communities the Wasteland. For those who remain, deliberate ignorance and dogmatic xenophobia guide their society towards an all-female "amazonian" raider culture. I wish all ideas could be this awesome, I actually want to email these two to Big B, these are incredible! simplywayne90
With the introduction of "ghosts" from Dead Money, I'd like to see some creepy mods with things like the bioshock "ghost people" or horror quest mods with really creepy storylines (Please no ripping the plot of RE or Silent Hill and say "U MAK DIS PLZ?") huntsman2310a
I've got one ----------Vegas Detective- the Clown Killer------------------------ The quest will only become available after you've dealt with most of the matters on the strip (The Omerta's Coup, The Rad-Pack and Benny at the Tops, and the......Humanitarians at the Ultra-Luxe, and after You've killed Mr House and installed Yes Man. It starts with the murder of a crazy old man, who claimed that he was Mr New Vegas. The NCR MP's are investigating and you can take the opportunity to be onboard as a Private Investigator (Awesome Trenchcoat and Revolver, not included in employee equipment, BYO), after 2 more murders, you realise that someone has introduced a bug into the Lucky 38's Security system, putting the Strip into Lockdown (The Monorail won't work, the gates won't open and the Securitrons will kill anyone.) -With nowhere for you or the murderer to go, you investigate even further...... (and that all I can write so far, as I need to go to School)
