the_j_1986
In all this talk about animations being impossible (or used to be impossible, I don't know much about it), it was always talk about making something for a creatures or the player. What I want to know is if making something like an elevator, or a spinning blade, even just a door are possible. Things that don't have skeletons. I know this may sound a little stupid, but I just never really heard anything about that aspect of animation. Anyway, does anyone know? Abramul
Well, you can script movement easy enough, I think you can animate textures. Peregrine would be the one who'd know about animating meshes.
Peregrine
Unfortunately Peregrine hates Oblivion and how Bethesda has stabbed his fellow artists in the back, so he has no clue how you would do it in Oblivion. He could easily animate it in 3dsmax, but he has no clue how to get the animation data exported into Oblivion, or if it's even possible with the existing tools. Yep, Bethesda is being a (censored) on this one, but it can be done from 3dsMax with a workaround. Not from Blender yet, or I'd be teaching myself to animate as we speak. Supposedly the infamous CuteUnit knows a Blender method, but if so she's not telling. >:( Here's a link to the thread that first carried the 3dsMax method: http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=540148 And here's another related one: http://canadianice.ufrealms.net/forum2/ind...hp?topic=4124.0 Good luck, fellas. GBHis
Works for Blender as well, I'm just bad at modelling...At least Oblivion didn't crash :) Look for the 3dsMAX tutorial (one of them*) under the steps "Using Blender instead" or something similar. I am now going to teach myself to animate. I keep planning to get a capture card anyway and now I have a reason. My sister is into some martial arts and I really would love to get some of her moves mocapped into the game. That would be a longterm project, of course. Meanwhile I'll try and make some new fish for pools like WarKirby's. ;) Works for Blender as well, I'm just bad at modelling...At least Oblivion didn't crash :) Look for the 3dsMAX tutorial (one of them*) under the steps "Using Blender instead" or something similar. Sorry to bump, but where? I can't find anything like that in either of the two threads. Just directions from 3dsMax. EDIT: Merged your posts. Please don't double post, it's spam. Thanks. Oh, and fixed your quote for you. ^^ - Switch
