Purr4me
This is the post that lost me. Aren't .cfg files configs? Would I want to erase all of those? If you're telling me to delete them, they must automatically come back after I run the game launcher again. I just want to make sure I'm not deleting something that's important. Lolyes, they can stop the game or other software controllers from running, you want steam to confiigure the game, not the games launcher. you can only have one Entity in control of the game, only one instruction runs it all. as you install things and learn how they interact with other things, you get a sense of it. you can have all you can and still be aware of what not to do. I don't believe you have mentioned a dll trick in this thread. If you've mentioned it in another, I've not seen it. Could you link it? That ! is quite possible...do you have the link?I've been going at it for a few days and it becomes a blur...there are two of you with almost an exact same thing taking place.yes, quite possible I have not posted it here as it was a running game....just not on the extended display through steam. there is a difference between running on itel chip sets and not, some work most do not .one's that work need not a fix it mod. My train of thought deals with what I see in front of me, a running game so no, I may not have mentioned it.
TehPl0x
The reasoning behind launching into windowed mode is the supposed increase in stability. That's the only reason. Yes, having two graphics cards is a pain in the butt. Whenever I'm not connected to my external monitor, my laptop usually only uses the integrated graphics card, not the dedicated one, regardless of what power settings I have selected, or what programs I'm running. And okay. My mistake. Thank you.
TehPl0x
You haven't mentioned the dll trick in this thread, and I do not have a link. I understand how this could all become a blur. Lol, I read through a few pages of the other thread that you're replying to, and I agree, it is quite similar. As you have instructed, I will delete the .cfg files and load the game. I currently have steam running the "FOSELoader". To do this, as I'm sure you already know, I just renamed "FOSELoader" to "Fallout3Launcher" so steam would load it instead. Should I load the default launcher, or is the fose one fine to run from?
Purr4me
I gave away my Alien ware expensive laptop because it could not handle half of what I do. I bought a cheap one acer and it handle it ok. Note the shot from fomm ? that still need to accessible....in fomm regardless of what runs what.the shot is kinda poor so even blown up...I can't see what it says. the greyed out area is caused by the games launcher setting up the *.cfg file....the hard ware connected to the screen is HDMI..and not vga. fallout 3 has no HDMI setting code in it.we will figure it out. Getting steeam to allow the over lay to work with this old game and have your cake and eat it too !...LOL. yeah baby ! that's the way it's gotta be. TehPl0x
I posted a link to the blown up picture of my FOMM graphics settings. Here is the link again: http://s4.postimg.org/wr13wgc6l/Capture.jpg When I get the VGA cable, what will I do then? I searched for the .cfg files within Samsung EVO (C:)>Games>Steam>steamapps>common>Fallout 3 GOTY and there was only one. Once I deleted this file, I tried launching the game from steam and it still gave me the same error. Was I supposed to disconnect the HDMI after I deleted the .cfg? Purr4me
I posted a link to the blown up picture of my FOMM graphics settings. Here is the link again: http://s4.postimg.org/wr13wgc6l/Capture.jpg When I get the VGA cable, what will I do then?nothing, the system and game software's will automatically take over. But then things will change in a big big way...remember, you are using a laptop...not a power machine, and it is basically just a note book.the cables are cheap and available at wall marts, or any out let that sells TV sets. you can simply order the thing online too . when the PC boots up with that cable attached, here is what will take place, the screen rez will be very large and it will be default windows standard, the graphics drivers currently installed will not match and will need to be reconfigured to match it. then the games software and tools all need to taste the new hardware and software and settings and tested both outside and inside of steam.you will be starting over with setups only, not reinstalling games just fixing the system so you can run the games I'll get the link now. Purr4me
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/17209/? I think you are both missing the fact that the game is using the Intel HD Graphics chip :yucky: instead of the better GTX 770M.M48A5 is correct ,this should have been done long ago...but until a moment ago, I have not seen the fomm read out. HD Graphics is greyed out and that fact that fomm is only reading that piece of hardware means you did and do require the fixed data file...the system or the game is not reading the other graphics card at all....so steam won't either.I' am tukkered out, i need to pick up my girls at school here in an hour too.--------------------------M48A5...you have the thread. TehPl0x
I want to continue using HDMI. If I didn't have to use VGA to run the game before, then I shouldn't have to now. I didn't have to install an Intel Bypass mod or anything like that. EDIT: Or are you just saying I need to use VGA for a little bit so my computer can reconfigure and do its thing, and then I can go back to using HDMI? Purr4me
EDIT: Or are you just saying I need to use VGA for a little bit so my computer can reconfigure and do its thing, and then I can go back to using HDMI? correct or at least until MS try's to disable yet something else in the updates, I am on the teams,,only one of the many of windows 10, we ran into hardware and video display software bugs , really bad ones from the company distributions. I mean it was really a bad slip up for MS, all of us were subjected to miles and miles of code tracing just to confirm they made a big mistake. It's like pulling a train through a garden hose. finally they folded and fixed that. you should be able to run that game any how with problems and with out steams involvement...but if it calling up steam? well then...steam it is.
