Must have mods?

Uh, a few that now that i have, I will never take off; (sorry i'm not sure on all the names)

Classic Fallout Weapons New Vegas (adds heaps of really cool guns from 1, 2 and tactics)

Nevada Skies (adds awesome new sky and cloud templates, and introduces rain and sandstorms)

Clanfears Bullet Time (I never really liked vats TBH, its an awesome alternative, you can set it to cost AP)

RNV Secret Stash (cos I got really tired of hearing the 4 song track while listening to my cool accomplishments)

No Auto Aim (removes the 'bullet curve' based on dice roll and just makes guns work like normal guns, i.e. if you miss you miss)

Better Casinos (Make them a bit more worth the while)

And New Vegas Bounties is the best quest mod that i've seen yet.

I'd love to hear other peoples opinion too.

something i wrote in another thread of the same subject:

there is also this article

it may only hold several mods, and you might not like them (don't know what type of mods you are looking for), but i though it was worth mentioning

my other suggestion will be to click on the Browse Categories button, choose the category that you would like mods from, and set the search to either download or endorsements, and to desc (descending order)

this way, you will find at least some of the mods that people love the most

you may not find all the best jewels this way, but then again, nothing comes that easily......

hope this helps :)

i would also like to support what adman85 said about New Vegas Bounties

it may not be the best quest mod that i have ever seen (there were many awesome quest mods for Oblivion and FO3) but it is definitely the finest quest mod that i have seen for New Vegas, with an awesome story, lots of twists, and some good action

also, i would like to recommend Fellout

i'm not sure if it is compatible with Nevada Skies (as i just have Fellout), but it makes the game look so much more realistic, and just damn better (beware, you will need some good nightvision, or you won't be able to be out at night)

I just meant the best i've seen for NV.

And yes I had fellout and Nevada Skies running, and its more trouble than its worth. as much as I loved fellout, it had to go.

Heres a trick I learned If you liked the really dark nights of fellout, but love the atmosphere of nevada skies too much to get rid of.

Go into the geck and load up the nevada skies esp and its associate mod, and set this mod to Active.

Go to the perks section under Actor Data, and right click on the "Cataracted Eyes" perk, press edit and change the ID (not the name the ID)

It's a good idea to remove (delete) the bonuses on at least this one, or it gets a bit OP at night, then change the name, or don't and click OK.

It should ask you if you want to create a new form ID, click yes, and it will create a new version of that perk. Viola! you should have access to more than one cataracted eyes perk at your next level up.. (making it twice as dark at night, I wouldn't reccomend any more than this.. And I would definitely recommend a good night vision mod to go with it.

I run Advanced Recon Gear, but it doesn't really insert the items hugely well.

(mind you, better than some ive seen.. You wake up at doc mitchells place.. "woah, easy there partner.. Here have a sniper rifle and some prewar military tech worth hundreds of thousands of caps....)

i didn't try to explain what you meant, i just said that it is the best quest mod i have seen for NV

didn't try to disagree or contradict you or anything :)

and i do know my way around the GECK a little, so i think i would have been able to do this myself (though i can't even recall the specific perk you mentioned)

still, it's good to know

but i think i will stick with Fellout for now, and see what goes

as for the Advanced Recon Gear, i had it in FO3 with Fellout, and i have it in NV with Fellout, and it works great in both cases

i don't really like the armors, but the headgear is just amazing, and the options are awesome (nightvision, thermal and the TAC are all great)

can't say that it bothers me how it inserted the items

found what i needed in Primm, and only when i found the full helmet i replaced the items (better to use one item, rather than three)

Assassin, I agree entirely, and i took no offense to your comment, I just thought i'd stress that nothing in the NV world really compares to the FO3 mods out at the moment.

And i'll say without a doubt the nights are better in fellout.

Personally I figured camp mcarran would have been a better place, but that would make quite a few night without them :/ so i spose you're right.

I just didn't expect to find all I needed in one chest that really is quite close to the start.

P.S. I haven't found the helmet yet.. Ooooh.. I'm all exited now :D I had forgot about it.

if i remember correctly, it was in Helios one, right before you go outside to activate the station (sorry if you didn't want the spoiler......)

i have to say, i am eagerly waiting to see some of the mods from FO3 finding their way to NV

i kinda miss MMM, with the awesome battles that it brought, or FWE with it's massive amount of options and effects

but i am sure that in time, the amazing modders here will make all the amazing mods needed to make NV even more awesome than FO3

right now, i only know of two projects that i am eagerly waiting for

the first is the second episode of New Vegas Bounties

the first episode was so great, i just have to get the second episode

the second is WMX, which is a complete overhaul of the mod system (as in weapon mods system)

it gives plenty of new mods for weapons, making the unique weapons moddable, giving some amazing models (if you get a chance to check it at the Bethseda forums, it will probably blow your mind!!)

with these two, and the amazing mods that will come out until i can have these two, i believe it will make my NV far better than any game i have had before (hopefully )

I second that.

FWE and MMM were awesome, both just about made it a new game. I thought i heard talk of a FWE crossover.. Maybe I just dreamt it..

And I think I saw talk of the weapons modification mod you spoke of,

Was it something to do with the "Breaking the weapon mods limit" forum post.

Anything that adds more customizability is good. (yeah it's a word now)

1 - save key ----- press f12 to create a new game save!!! not a quick save - fast easy immersion preserving saves

2 - buildable bots ---- you want some robot companions, maybe a zombie sidekick

3 - energy weapons use less ammo ---- tired of using a castrated energy weapon - want them to act even a little more like FO3

4 - fast new game ---- come on Doc Mitchel get on with it - why waste playing time listening to the same old ramblings while you start a new character

5 - T51b service manual ---- you know this would exist somewhere - family heirloom from the "good old days"

6 - 7983 bug fix mods ---- one for every single problem the was published with the game
