Osteoporozis
I've recently done some major upgrading to my computer (Went from one to four gigs of ram and a 1gb video card) but I still have some trouble with Oblivion. I'm experiencing, as before, a huge FPS drop around wolves, deer, and bears. If wolves didn't pop out from behind every tree in Cyrodill I wouldn't mind; but as that is not the case, I'm searching for a solution. Is there any way of stopping this FPS drop? Thanks in advance. Hickory
Are you running game overhauls, like Frans, MMM and/or OOO? A mod list (preferably taken from Wrye Bash) would be of some help.

Hickory
I have to question the wisdom of using RAEVWD and Streamline -- if you have to use Streamline, that would suggest that VWD of any sort is out of the question. This may have an impact when packs of wolves attack.
Osteoporozis
I've just realized that I forgot to even enable streamline... I'm still reinstalling mods after reformatting my computer the other day, and evidently I didn't do such a good job. Enabling streamline has somehow fixed the problem. But is there some conflict between RAEVWD and Streamline? I was under the impression that what Streamline did (concerning this) was alter land textures, and that RAEVWD created LODs for buildings. Edit - Okay, I really have my mods mixed up. Disregard the above sentences. Where would RAEVWD and Streamline conflict? Edited December 5, 2010 by Osteoporozis
Qwaxalot
Try a Mod Like Quiet Feet Max http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12331 (will reduce the effects of enemy footsteps) You can also get a dedicated sound card with hardware acceleration (Creative X-Fi card)
Osteoporozis
Checking out Quiet Feet. Thanks for the tips.
Hickory
Edit - Okay, I really have my mods mixed up. Disregard the above sentences. Where would RAEVWD and Streamline conflict? I think you are missing my point. RAEVWD and Streamline do not conflict. My point was the wisdom of using any VWD mod, which dramatically increases the load on the GPU, and then using Streamline to try to overcome the strain that you have initiated by installing RAEVWD. In short, if your hardware needs Streamline, you really should think twice before installing massive fps reducers like Quarls, RAEVWD etc.
Osteoporozis
Between actually enabling Streamline and using Quiet Feet, wolves and deer are no longer a problem.I see now what you mean now about using Streamline and RAEVWD, Hickory, and I believe that was part of the problem and that I would not have had the problem on vanilla Oblivion. But as I said, I was able to fine-tune RAEVWD so that it was not so straining (I took out LODs for rocks and such), and have done the same now. Thanks for the help.
