importing .nifs - Newbie question

Ok, so fair warning, I have never touched Blender before today, before last week did not know you could take models from the .bsa's in Oblivion... I am a NEWBIE.

But I have this project that's... kinda due thursday, so I need an answer to this question.

I figured out on my own how to unpack the .bsa's with BSA commander, get them into NifSkope, and open the .nif's in Blender. Now I'm stuck.

Whenever I import the .nif's, they are all distorted... legs crooked, heads twisted around sideways, that kind of thing. I don't know much about 3d modelling but I think that means something's wrong with the skeleton? If I change it to edit mode it is fine, no distortion.

Also, how do I get the textures to show up? I linked them in NifSkope, but the model just looks grey in Blender.

I googled hard for a tutorial, came up empty.

Thanks for your help!

If you are going to do any amount of modeling in Blender, you really need to stop what you are doing right now and go through the Noob to Pro tutorial just so you get the basics of navigation and how to use it. Otherwise, you will just be asking a ton of "how do I" questions that are already covered in those tutorials.

As for the warped model import, you probably just did not select the right options on the NIF import screen.

Typically, we never use a skeleton that was imported with the model. You have to remove it and re-import a new one. Check the pinned thread here called "Blender - Read me 1st" for the link to Noob to Pro.
