Peregrine
To Reylas:The guard looks at you with suspicion at first. "Now where have I heard this excuse before... Alright, lets see it." He takes the note from you, and his mood instantly improves. "Sorry for the caution, we've had more than our share of attempted thieves recently... seems this is one of the more popular stories to get in. Well, follow me." A few minuites walk later, you are standing at the commander's office. The door is already open, and your escort waves you in. The commander's office is decorated nicely as appropriate to someone of that high rank. Various pieces of art cover the walls and most of the tables, and the furniture is all of an ornate style that is nothing you've ever seen before. A wood bookshelf fills the left side wall, and a large window dominates the right. The commander's desk is placed at the far end of the room, facing outward to recieve business. A guard stands to either side of the desk, short spears held ready and swords on their belts. As you enter, the commander finishes writing something in a large book, which he then places in a desk drawer. You hear the click of a lock closing, then he looks up at you. Your escort speaks first. "A Mr. Swiftbreeze to see you, sir. He's got official papers." He then steps out of the room, and the door closes behind you. As soon as he is gone, the commander speaks with clear interest. "So, Mr. Swiftbreeze, what is your business with me? And don't worry about the guards, they're completely loyal. Anything you can tell me, you can trust them with." Sol'Kanar
"Thank you sir. You see, my small village a distance north of here, on Lake Hairan has experienced troubles as of late. We began to see threats from a vicious group of ruffians, demanding money, and goods, which we have little of. Their first scouts they sent we fought off, and I came here to warn the imperials of the threat this group poses as well as seek help for my people. Unfortunately, due to the busy nature of the law these days, I could not find a meeting with you until today. I ask that a party be sent north to defend my people, or at least mete out justice to those responsible for their fates. However, sir, there is one more matter I'd like to talk to you about. The rest of my people were to join me today, and they are not the kind of people to ever be late. If they were going to arrive at all, it would have been today. I am resigned to the fate that they have all been killed or enslaved, sent to the far ends of Vvardenfell and unretrievable already. I have nothing. I ask of you one more humble favor. I have long been quite dexterous, and fast with a quill. If you would take me on, I would gladly become your scribe. Much better than finding the same fate as my people." Peregrine
To Reylas: The man looks at you with sympathy. "I haven't heard anything about any disaster, whatever that may mean. I'll send a few scouts to check it out, and more if needed. I will not allow my territory to be overrun by chaos and destruction. I swear by Talos I will destroy whoever is responsible for this. And as for your other request... I'm not the one who'd know about such things. I'll have your escort take you to our personel officer. He'll see if there's a job for you here. If you're as good as you say, I doubt you'll have trouble finding employment here."
Sol'Kanar
Inwardly a bit dismayed at the extra hoops to jump through, Reylas smiles and thanks the commander, exiting with the guard to meet the personel officer.
Peregrine
To Reylas:Your escort takes you down a long hall and down a floor. Eventually you reach another office, one of many apparently identical ones in this part of the building. "Alright, here it is. I'll wait outside for you." Inside, a typical military office and a typical military officer wait for you.
Sol'Kanar
Reylas enters the office, standing before the officer inside. "Hello, you must be the personel officer. I'm Swiftbreeze, and am interested in taking up the job of scribe."
Peregrine
To Reylas:"Alright, let me see...." He pulls a book from his desk and flips through it. "Well, there's a spot open for you if you're good enough. Here, copy this. The officer smiles evily at you as he hands you a book, and then a pen, and some ink and paper. The book is a well used copy of the standard Imperial Legion regulations, volume 1 of 40. Over 900 pages of dull rules for every possible thing you could ever want to do.. Sol'Kanar
Reylas, getting slightly more frustrating with his plans, sits down and begins to copy the book in the fastest, while maintaining legibility, possible way.
Sol'Kanar
Reylas stands up after several minutes writing Excuse me, I dont think the six fishes cooked their meat throughly. I just need a breath of fresh air... Give me a moment, then I'll return. I'll likely have it completed by tomorrow.
