TUTORIAL- How to Create A New Radio Station

Two things: Songs only start playing about 5 seconds in, skipping the first few seconds.

Secondly, after the last song plays, the sound in my game completely cuts out, except for the running sound. Any help?

Well at least that is not as bad as mine

1. Louder than a gunshot

2. Repeats 2 times.

Thats modding for you

Thanks, that helped me a lot.

I've used that TUT to create a station for user owned songs.
Feel free to investigate the functionality with GECK or FNVEdit.
Also my blank MP3s can be used if needed since making 100 blank MP3s wasn't that much of effort ^^

I experienced that my own MP3s have some bug during the playback if they're high definition audio.
But using Jarols Converting-BAT from Extended New Vegas Radio Generator on those MP3s, make them playing smooth ingame.

Probably the engine has problems with big high definition audio so I can recommend to convert every song, voice which want to be used ingame with that converter.

Hello~

I'm in the process of making a custom radio station for Project Brazil with original music and multiple DJ's, and was wondering if you had any idea how to add dj segments. I assume it'd be the same as adding songs to a station but assumptions are dangerous, as I often say.

This is probably a repost, but I seem to be having problems currently. I have followed the directions precisely, and have done some things that i believe would help ensure it to be a constance of radom selection. I have made "Radio hello" link to "Any" and i have also made a topic with no sound file link to another topic that does have a sound file. I have not recorded my own anouncements like they do on the actual in game radio, so that is why i have left these topics without a sound file (merely to fill them further into the future). The empty topics all have 1 letter at the least in their response boxes. All of these empty topics link from "Any" and link to the topic with a sound file. The topics with a sound file are linked from a specific topic with no sound file and are linked to "Any". The last topic with a sound file is linked to "RadioHello".

My problem is that when i play the radio station it would play the same song over and over. Now it will play the first song and remain in complete static after it has ended. Just now as I entered the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside it cut out about mid song and just turned to empty static. I have run through this tutorial over 10 times, but everything seems to be in check. I have also ran through my list of topics 6 times and they seem to work in theory, but they don't work in reality.

Can anyone give me any helpful advice as to a way i can fix this problem that keeps reoccuring?

Ok, I want to randomize my songs, but there is only one song per topic and I have 16 songs. Do I just make an empty entry and set that as random? Will that work?

Edit: Got it working, nvm

I've followed every step correctly and my radio plays the same song twice, then goes to the next. Plays that song twice, goes to the next. Then goes back to the first song, plays it twice, same thing. Sometimes it wont even do that and it repeats the first song it plays. My audio files are .wav, named correctly. Everything. What am I doing wrong?

I finally found the answer to getting the radio to work as a placed activator.
There needs to be a mono version of each song available to play in the game world I guess. Maybe the reason the radionewvegas files don't need a _mono version of each song is because they are mp3s and the game can just decode a mono version out of mp3 whereas .wav that isn't possible? I really have no idea, all I know about audio formats is what i learned in the past hour trying to get my custom jukebox to work.
Anyways, this quoted post has the answer.

Thanks for the reply and the links. I got it working. Apparently, to get a custom radio station to play from a jukebox or speakers, you have go to the folder with the custom songs and create an .ogg file of each (I did it through the program Goldwave and saved them as 22050hz, 35kbps, mono) with "_mono" attached to the end of the title.

Goldwave is a free shareware you can download. Simply open up the songs you want to play on your activator, select file save as, then save them as ogg format. Then in the next dropdown menu below filetype, scroll down until you find 22050hz 35kbps mono (i dont know if you need that frequency and bitrate, but mono is probably necessary). Then rename the file (the ogg one, not the wav one) and add _mono at the end. Make sure these copies are all in the same folder that the game draws your music from to play on the pipboy.

Oh, and I guess if you're just reading this post, to actually place the activator, to go world objects->activator->clutter->vintageradio. Select one of those radios, make your own copy of it, and in the "radio station" option, select the name of the talking activator you made for the radio station.

Another important note is that any jukebox or radio etc. can only play your radio station in a place where you could on the pipboy. Otherwise you'll just get static.
