majikmonkee
I don't know if this is doeable or not, but I'm assuming it is because I've seen mods that remove the tails from the beast races. The "see you sleep" mod allows you to assign an "item" that removes tail slot items when you are in bed. I'd like something like that that can be used when I'm awake to equip on either myself or a companion to remove cloaks that occupy the "tail" slot from certain custom outfits. Basically, I've downloaded a couple of outfits I really liked but can't get past the "J" shaped curve of the cloaks hanging behind their butt. I'd love it if I could just give them a "remove tail" item to hide this without affecting the tail status of the rest of Tamriel. Thanks for reading!
WastelandAssassin
i'm not sure i understand what you are asking for...... do you want that items like cloaks will hide the tails of your character\companion??or do you want to make the tails visible while using some items?? just for your knowledge, when you open a clothing item in the CS (whether it's an armor, a clothing piece or an accessory) you can set which slots it usesso if you want an item to hide the tail, just make it use the tail slot (i think it should work fine)as for the item hiding the tails, i'm not really sure, as i don't know how it works (i don't know if there are specific meshes with the tails, or if the tails are just pasted onto the body)
majikmonkee
Sorry, I don't think I made this really clear... So I downloaded a costume where the top incorporates a hanging piece of cloth that appears to use the tail slot. The character wearing it is a breton with no tail. I want to use the outfit but want the funky hanging cloth in the "tail slot" hidden. I don't want a mod that hides all tails for everyone though, just an accessory I can add that hides anything occupying the tail slot on a character as long as it's equipped. Make sense? WastelandAssassin
well, maybe for people who have recently played Oblivion, or even more so, for people who have used the mod you are referring to, or the See You Sleep mod, will have an easier time understanding it might be the hour here, and the fact that i am kinda light headed now, but i don't think i fully understandif you could post a link to the mod you are using, or just post a picture of that costume (especially the part that you want hidden) i think it will greatly help me understand because right now, i'm not sure if what you are asking for is a change in the tail slot, or actually removing a part of the model (sorry, but like i said, i'm a little light headed this evening )
majikmonkee
Removing part of a model. The part that uses the tail slot.
WastelandAssassin
so you want to completely remove that part from the model??if so, i think it can be done in NifSkope, but i'm not really surei'll have to check it out, and see
majikmonkee
Here's a simplified version of what I want... - downloaded costume has a hanging cloak- hanging cloak seems to use the "tail slot"- I am Breton and have no tail, but...- hanging cloak is ugly, I want it gone- don't want to affect tails of other characters- I'd like an item that hides or disables the tail slot but...- ONLY for the character holding the "item" Make more sense now? WastelandAssassin
well, it makes sense, but you are also contradicting yourself you see, you said that the costume has the cloak as a part of itso if you would just make an item that uses the tail slot and equip it, it will remove the entire costume (if even one slot is occupied, you will not be able to use the costume, so if you equip something in the tail slot, it will remove the armor) so the thing that you will have to do, if you want to get rid of this cloak, is actually open it in Blender or something like this, and remove the cloak from the model, and do the same with the texturesat least, that is the case if it's one complete modelbut i would assume that if the cloak has it's own model and texture (it doesn't have to be a separate item, kinda like a silencer and a pistol), then maybe you will just be able to remove it with NifSkope, but it will take some work i hope that is a good enough answer to your question (if it's not, then i am sorry)

But just on the player wearing the costume in question. i'm pretty sure that this isn't possiblewhat i mean is that from what i know, you can't change the model in a way that will only affect the clothing when the character wears iti mean, the clothing uses a specific model, so it doesn't matter who wears it, it will look in one specific way (there is of course the female\male versions, but it's the same thing, with a gender restriction) after looking at the CS, i can't find a specific model for a character with a tail, so i guess the tail is just pasted on the model (or the model pasted on the tail, and the tail just goes through it)this means that you cannot change the armor to look one way for a no-tail character, and look differently to a character with a tail
