not being able to update oblivion

I have had to get a new computer because the old one had a major meltdown, but now I am finding that I cannot update the game when re-installing it. I am told that the update will not go ahead because an old file is loaded, but is not quite the same, this confuses me somewhat. Any ideas please ???

I'm guessing you're either trying to patch a cracked Oblivion.exe (i.e a pirated copy), or you're trying to install the wrong patch for your game/language. I.e, installing the US language patch on a UK language install can actually cause problems, despite the fact the languages are virtually the same, there seems to be fundamental differences between the US and UK versions of the gane.

 

If you did pirate it, don't even bother claiming you didn't, since you will find it extraordinarily difficult/impossible to patch a cracked Oblivion.exe

I had loaded Oblivion, Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, [ which my daughter loves but i don't lol ] alll at the same time, ie; one after the other, before trying to update aanything. I started again but this time only loaded Oblivion and then tried to update with the patches found here and this time the update went through, the sad part now is that I have to now go back in and load up alll the mods I had too, but that I can live with.

 

Pirated copy??? find the nearest Oblivion gate and go back home lol
