Guards attack me no matter what I do!

Hey!

I have a strange problem I hope you all can help me with. I'm level 32 and I've had no problems with my skyrim except a random crash every now and then... (we all do right?) So anyway, I was visiting Riften for my first time and I had to sleep. I head over to the bee and barb and purchase a room and head upstairs. Once I've slept I casually walk outside only to get an arrow to the chest by a guard. I was surprised of course because I hadn't done anything wrong.

I try to calm the guard down by sheathing several times, but that doesn't help at all. Since there are no guards inside the bee and the barb I tried to steal a loaf of bread and then perhaps they will confront me as I walk outside. Nope, that didn't work either. They just keep attacking me. I THEN cast a calm spell on the guard and YES that worked! I can talk to him, I pay off my bounty but soon as I walk away from the guard, he starts attacking me again... sigh. I even tried to go to jail when I talk to him. As soon as I served my time in there they still want to kill me.

I also tried to run away from Riften and fast travel to another hold. The guards there ALSO wants me dead.

It didn't work to wait 3 days and then come back either. Many suggested that when I googled for help.

 

1. I have no bounty

2. I'm not a vampire

3. I have not killed anyone or done anything illegal so that the guards wants me dead

 

What can this possibly be? This must be mod related somehow but I can't understand why it starts to be a problem NOW. I have played for so long without troubles. I do not run the mod "Civil war overhaul" either. Many people said that was a common cause.

I have the same problem. I reset bountys in the negative, arm and disarm and steal an apple and it is just a rampage. The game is unplayable for me. When I turned vampire I was not aware of the issues that would arise. I calmed the quest dude in Morthal and got the soul gem and cured myself but I am still kill on sight for everything.

That's really strange indeed... I hope someone can help us with this! I have tried many things and now they won't even talk to me if I cast the calm spell on them. What the?

I have the same problem. I DID however find a fix. Its quite tedious but it works. You have to go into the console and click on each guard individually. Each guard you click on, type "setav aggression 0" and then "resetai" (Without the "). Once you do this, I don't know if they will ever attack you again at all or if it goes back to normal, but it stops them from hunting you for no reason.

I just had that happen to me as I approached Markarth. Have no idea what set them off. Funny thing was, as I was defending myself the guards who were trying to kill me would complain, "I'm on you side!" or "Hey, watch out!" as I defended myself. LOL Not sure what was going on but when I killed off all of them on the outside of Markarth, I went inside and everything was calm. Rode over to Riften next, and no problem.

For anyone still having this problem, I found a solution. In my inventory I had an item that radiates stamina damage to undead... for some reason it also affected certain guards, or perhaps would "attack" a citizen who was a vampire, triggering a defense response from the guards (I'd see a 40g bounty first then theyd attack.

 

In other words, its a broken mod. Look around at what you are carrying... a surefire test is to walk into the area butt naked... if then don't attack, its something you are carrying.

I had the same issue : because I was part of the vampire faction, undeads and skeevers ignored me, guards and travellers hated me.

Here's the console command I used:

player.RemoveFac 00027242
