Puzzling CTD's upon Startup - Crashes before the intro

I have already checked for fatal errors using LOOT, BOSS, and TES5EDIT. I've tried to fix this for two days. I'm no stranger to mod troubleshooting, but this particular issue has kept me scratching my head for longer than any other. I've uploaded a video of my troubleshooting process. I know that there are some warnings, but I'm not seeing any fatal errors, which are almost always present when my game has this problem. I am quite sure that I've installed ENB and RealVision correctly, and I've updated FNIS to accommodate my most recent animation changes. I'd be grateful for some help.

I just did a fresh install, then enabled all of my mods, including skse and RealVisionenb. The problem persists, and there are still no offered solutions from LOOT, BOSS, nor TES5EDIT.... halp...please... :'(

You said you thought it might be Realvision, have you tried renaming d3d9.dll to d3d9.old and relaunch your game? If it still CTDs then it's not your ENB (renaming that file disables the ENB)

Mod Organizer will save you an immense amount of headaches (if you're not using it). CTD before logo is a missing masters issue, you may have one mod that is looking for a dependency. I've spent hours prior to using MO finding out that I simply enabled a Falskaar patch in a secondary mod and had since uninstalled Falskaar.

Thanks for the input... but I am already using mod organizer, and it does not indicate that I have any missing master files. I installed all of my new lands mods after the crashing started, so they cannot be the cause. All of the details of my setup are in the video that I provided. I recorded just about everything on my computer that pertains to my skyrim mods and configuration. If there's an apparent problem, it is likely there.

Watched the video.

 

Don't use Boss, LOOT has replaced it - you'll also want to make sure your Mod Organizer LOOT master sort list is updated, see the loot video in my guide.

 

You didn't answer whether or not you've tried disabling Realvision ENB. If it's an ENB problem then you'll need to modify your enblocal.ini file located in your Skyrim Directory. The auto-installer for Realvision doesn't always enter the proper values. If you have the ENBoost memory tweak it also conflicts with ENBs because ENBoost is already included with Realvision... both utilize the enblocal.ini file. That means you'll need to disable ENBoost if you're using Realvision.

 

May not be related to your immediate problem, you also seem to have alot of mods with dirty edits, you'll want to clean them, there's a video for that in my guide as well. I couldn't tell by the video but I didn't see any Merged or Bashed patches but you'll want to learn to make them, also in my guide.

I installed SKSE using the SKSE installer. I did not use ModOrganizer to install it, but I use ModOrganizer to launch it. Regardless, the game crashes whether or not I start it through the ModOrganizer SKSE shortcut.

I was using ENBoost. I disabled it and the game wasn't fixed. I also uninstalled and disabled RealVision, which did not fix the problem. Thanks for trying to help me with this, by the way. :thumbsup:

 

EDIT: I DID IT. I FIXED IT. I was reminded of a file that I downloaded after reconsidering derder's question. The file is called "SKSE inipre-download for lazy users." My game was back up as soon as I disabled it :D

I'm glad you figured it out! Thanks for getting back to us.

 

You still will want to clean those dirty edits and run some patchers (given the large amount of mods you have) - My guide above covers how to do that... I've got around 200 mods and I got CTDs in specific areas with mod overlays (such as Dawnguard) until I ran patchers, so they do, indeed, eliminate possible CTDs.
