jwoltz
HELP! After about 5 months of intensive playing, suddenly cities, towns, and general countryside is slowly being locked out to me. I can't walk into these areas. I can't fast travel either. The loading bar just stops, the sound continues to play and controls lock up. I have OBSE, Pluggy, Streamline, OCPS, and every patch and mod imaginable trying to fix this. I am playing on a new high-end computer with 4 gb memory, fast graphics card and WIN7. However, the game plays in WIN XP SP2 mode as suggested. Everything was working fine until about 150-200 hours of game play. I was told it was a ref bug issue in Shivering Isles. I have been told its a WIN 7 issue. CPU, Graphics Card, etc., etc., etc! A lot of people have given me their opinions as to what is wrong and their versions of how to fix this but so far, NOTHING has worked! Soon, my game will become completely unplayable. I can't start over at this point only because I have already come sooooo far and I have no guarantee that this issue won't happen again down the road. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLID SOUND ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM! Apparently others have excperienced the same thing back in the day with the so called id ref bug fix, etc, but I have the latest versions and patches that was suppose to take care of this in the first place. WHAT HAPPENED? CAN ANYONE HELP? PLEASE. email me at [email protected] with an answer. I need to solve this quickly and I'm very frustrated. Smooth613
It's likely you have the Animation Bug, or A-Bomb. It's the Ref bug you're referring to and an internal "counter" needs to be reset. It commonly happens to folks around 200hours of gameplay. You can use Wrye Bash's Repair ABomb function to reset the counter and fix the issue. I've had it happen on my current character at about 250 hours and Wrye Bash's repair A-bomb fixed it right up. I've had it happen a few times over the years actually. You can also try OAF - Oblivion Animation Fixer if you don't have Wrye Bash. But who doesn't use Wrye Bash these days? And how could you possibly get by without it with any decently modded setup? Good luck!
