MadMike710
I had to format my PC so I lost all my mods etc.First of all, I'm looking for a specific mod - I forgot the name so my search results were unsuccessful, it lets you keep a bedroll with you in so you can sleep anywhere. Thanks. Secondly, I need FPS boost mods as the performance is quite bad... Lastly I want some realism or immersion mods please. :) Any help is appreciated. :D Kudos to whoever provides a useful mod. Amayakyrol
Streamline is supposed to help FPS. Lowpolygrass should help too.
David Brasher
Streamline stinks! You may as well go play Daggerfall if you want the Oblivion graphics to come out looking that way.
Smooth613
Streamline stinks! You may as well go play Daggerfall if you want the Oblivion graphics to come out looking that way.Obviously someone has never even slightly attempted to adjust the Streamline INI settings. If nothing else Streamline is valuable for purging cells from memory even if you disable every other feature. Like I do. But that's beside the point. With a properly configured INI Streamline can offer significant performance increases with minimal hits to the overall visual quality of the game. Comparing it to Daggerall is ludicrous at best. Streamline doesn't change your texture packs to some prehistoric look. They remain exactly the same. It alters when things become visible in the distance, or how many objects are visible at one time, fog distance, shadow count, reflections, specular LOD distance for lighting, grass density and distance, etc... These are all settings that the user should probably lower anyway if you're having performance issues and need extra FPS. Streamline simply does it on the fly to keep your FPS within a set MIN - MAX range. So for someone such as the OP that stated...Secondly, I need FPS boost mods as the performance is quite bad...... Streamline is a very viable and acceptable solution to increase performance.

Smooth613
Oh, I also forgot to mention Oblivion Stutter Remover - OSR. It's another performance enhancing type mod that also gives noticeable increases in performance. You may also want to check into Fast Exit 2 to help prevent the Crash on Exit bug. Crashing on exit is just a flaw with the engine and can happen with an unmodded game, but it becomes more common the more mods you add. Don't forget about the Unofficial Patches and Supplements. They provide literally thousands of bug fixes and should be considered essential to your Oblivion setup. Below is some more information and links that I keep handy. Start with a fresh installation on a newly defragmented drive or partition and install Oblivion and all the Official DLC's and Patches. Then follow with the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch, Unofficial Official Mods Patches, and the UOP Supplementals. This should be your base install and be completely stable. I recommend you test for a few hours to be certain. Then you should backup your Data folder so you have a stable Vanilla installation to fall back on when something goes haywire. Next is the addition of mods. Again rather simple but so many people neglect this next bit; Add mods one at a time and test thoroughly each area that specific mod touches. For example, if you install a combat mod go pick fights will all sorts of NPCs and creatures for a few hours to check for stability. If you install a texture mod, run around to as many diverse areas as possible to ensure there are no missing resources. Etcetera.[/line]Below are some useful links to helpful resources and utilities,. Environmental Mod List by Wrinklyninja -- An excellent resource that covers all of the weather, environment, and immersion type mods. Better Oblivion Sorting Software - BOSS -- Sorts your Load Order for you to help minimize conflicts related to LO positioning of mods. Wrye Bash Download Page -- There is an updated form of the ReadMe included in the Mopy folder in the archive. There is also a slightly dated Online ReadMe. Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies -- Great "starter kit" to get your hands dirty with Wrye Bash. BAIN Mod Installation Projects -- Comprehensive instructions from beginner to advanced. TES4Edit -- It's actually a handful of utilities compiled into one executable. TES4View, TES4Edit, TES4LODGen, FO3Edit, maybe more. You simply change the name of the executable and bam, different application. TES4LODGen -- Same notes as above for TES4Edit. TES4Edit Training Manual -- It's worded for Fallout 3 but everything applies to Oblivion the same, since they run on the same engine. TES4Gecko -- Another great utility for cleaning and merging mods, plus more. TESIV:POSItive -- Excellent, excellent, site loaded with information to assist anyone, from beginner to advanced. MadMike710
Thanks again Smooth613, though I can't give you another Kudos. :P (where did that button go anyway?)The OSR could come in handy and I never bothered to install the UOP.Also most of the utilities you posted will probably be useless to me as I don't make complicated mods, sorry. The last site you posted was good though.Thanks.
