stebbinsd
Finishing a faction questline gives you the reward of being the faction's new leader ... which carries absolutely zero consequences. With the Companions, your subordinates still hand out your jobs for you. You should be getting your jobs directly from the clients. As Thieves Guild Guildmaster, Brynjolf says that being leader is more than getting a cut of the spoils; it's about keeping the rabble in order. However, your experience after becoming Guildmaster seems to be limited to ... getting a cut of the spoils. The only faction that shows any change when you become leader is the Dark Brotherhood. But even that doesn't have you taking on any leadership duties. Instead, it's basically "get your contracts directly from the Night Mother, rather than Astrid or Naziir." I'd like to see a series of radiant quests where, as leader, you're tasked with actually doing leadership related stuff. Here are some examples: Arbitrator - Two NPCs in the faction have a disagreement. Maybe two Companions were shield siblings in a contract, and it's disputed which one is at fault for the contract being failed. They both tell sides of the story, maybe one of them presents evidence (e.g. an elven arrow which struck the target dead they were supposed to keep alive, proving that it came from the only one of the two who has a quiver of elven arrows), and it's up to you to decide who's at fault. Or, the two NPCs could just be having a disagreement about anything. New Recruits - A new NPC is created from a random NPC generator and asks to join the faction. You don't have the "look into someone's eyes and tell their worth" superpower that Kodlak had, so you have to test their skills to decide if their fit for your faction. Any takers? AG97
A mod like this is long overdue in my opinion. The major positions in Skyrim hardly give the player any responsibility or power. After becoming a faction leader it never feels like you're actually in charge of anything. Similarly, being a Thane is worth bugger all and neither Ulfric nor Tulius grant the player any power, despite the fact that the dragonborn is basically the hero of the war. Hopefully someone picks up this request because it would make an awesome mod.
RalinDrakus
Whole heartedly agree. This has always been a problem and it's very immersion breaking. If Bethesda was too lazy to even correct and add to the dialog options for NPC's who meet a character who finished a guild quests (harbinger of the companions walks down the street, random ass guard "what do you do, fetch the mead?"), than I guess a framework to actually BE the leader of the guild you just took over is way beyond the scope. Would dearly love to see this fixed, not only for the guilds but also for the civil war factions and Thane roles as AG97 suggested
stebbinsd
For those of you who want a similar mod for being thane, I've made a similar request a long time ago: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1251403-request-thaneship-responsibilities/
