majikmonkee
Picture this scenario... Say that I like the look of leather armor but would prefer the protection of glass armor. No problem! I equip the glass armor, then open my inventory and access the miscellaneous items section. There is a picture of a helmet that says "Appearance Armor Config". I click on it, and it gives me the "cannot equip this item" message, then the following message box pops up: "Any items equipped in this window will be used for appearance only. Their weight will be reduced to zero, but you will not receive any enchantments or armor bonus from appearance items." That's fine with me. So I equip the leather armor in this window, a less ugly amulet, and an item included with the mod called "no gloves", which allows me to equip gloves for armor but shows me bare-handed (there is also a "no helmet, no cuirass, and similar item for every armor slot). Once I've chosen what I want to have showing as my armor, I close the window to save the changes. Now, my character appears to be wearing leather armor with no gloves. Regardless of what other armor I equip in my inventory screen, the game continues to show what I've chosen as my appearance gear, while giving the protection of whatever is actually equipped. Doable? Does this make sense to anyone?
Deleted1848331User
It makes sense, but I don't know how you'd get that to work without replacing the Glass armor nif through NifSE of OBSE somehow. Or just unequipping the Glass armor altogether.
majikmonkee
I'll be honest, I have no Oblivion modding experience at all, this was a dream of mine based on bits and pieces of other mods I've used. I was just curious if it was even remotely feasible.
Deleted1848331User
It might be possible to do, but I'm just not sure lol. You could always go into the CS yourself and change the armor rating of leather armor to glass lol
