On Alistair post-Landsmeet...

Okay, I'm a DEF who romanced Alistair. I hardened him and our relationship prior to Landsmeet was +100 (Love).

Now Ali is King (Anora has been jailed). He confronted me with the usual "soz gal im king now LOL" speech. I wanted to preserve the relationship and eventually managed to find the (Persuade) option, which apparently was successful. Alistair says we can move on like before and asks if I can forgive him. I answer, "Maybe. But you'll have to earn it". Judging by his response, Alistair took this as a "yes".

However, I got a -10 disapproval (probably because of my last answer, I can live with it), but I noticed that the relationship had turned into +90 (Friendly). What's the matter?

Also, How long I have to be in relationship with him for him to mention it in Awakening (bought it yesterday)? Now as it seems Alistair dumped me after all, will he remember? And if I, hypothetically, started a quick new romance with Zevran or Leliana?

Of course, I would have no problem with re-instating our romance, but the problem is that it's not possible.

Regardless of your Relationship Status with him, if Alistair is King (or co-monarch) he will appear exactly ONCE in DA:A to basically:

a) Acknowledge the relationship itself (whatever it is)

-and-

b) Make excuses for why he can't help you, wishing you luck in fighting these pesky Darkspawn on your own!

In fact, the above is true for whoever you installed on Ferelden's Throne at the end of DA:O. (Obviously the relationship with Anora is a little different, but she she'll still give it a verbal hand-wave.) Since I've never (I just realized) tried to have my Warden become solo Monarch of Ferelden, I have no idea what happens in that case.

The relationship with Alistair post-Landsmeet cools UNLESS you're a human female (the book says only Human Noble Origin can marry Alistair, but I also got through with my human female Mage) romancing him AND you announced to the Landsmeet that Alistair will be King and you'll rule by his side.

HOWEVER...

If you're a non-human female AND Alistair has been hardened, you can convince Alistair to keep seeing you (you take on the role of Mistress, effectively), by telling him that "No-one can tell the king what to do"...and your romance will continue.

Hope that helps. :)

No.

If you conscript Loghain, Alistair leaves the party, never to be seen again. Romance over.

(Okay, there's a mod/cheat around that allowws you to have both Loghain AND Alistair - I couldn't find it for a quick look, but someone will know what it is ;) - and apparently it makes for pretty interewsting dialogue at the end. I personally have never done it, and I never will...Loghain must die! 8) )

Oh yes! Loghain MUST die. That's a given.

But my "Kobayashi Maru" solution allows one to deny Morrigan the DR and still join Alistair for Happily-Ever-After.

Here's how to do it:

(Question: Is it a "cheat" if it comes built-in with the game? :teehee: )

I knew you'd know, Thandal. I just wasn't going to go ahead and nominate you. ;)

And...technically, it IS cheating 'cause you have to invoke the command console to make it happen. :whistling:
