New idea for armors & weapons

THE DEVIL

8) Hi all, well I am no big mod creator, but I have an idea for new types of armor or even weapons. I don't know if someone has already given this kind of idea, but I will give it a try.

So I was wondering if you mod creators could convert and upgrade armor from a famous rpg game Gothic, because there the armor is slightley different from Oblivion, I like the combination between steel and fur, well gothic players understand me.

Anyway Oblivion is better than Gothic in a way, so why not bring it to us? I will be very gratefull if you could make my dreams come true. I just want the armor from gthic come to oblivion world, but with new graphics of course.

So is it possible or not?

P.S. I have searched for good armor mods, but they aren't many, because most of them are retextured, but i like armor with new meshes instead of just a retexture.

And also Oblivion lacks of crossbows, but in gothic crossbows is a usual thing, is it possible to create crossbows for Oblivion?

:) Please if you have the time and energy, post ideas and solutions - Gothic armor in Oblivion!

This is a link for all armor avalible in Gothic2

(If i had any spelling mistakes, please forgive me)

They could make the armor you want by LOOKING at the armor you are talking about. It is illigal to take the textures/meshes from Gothic and convert them to Oblivion (or to any game) though.

In order to make crossbows available, one would need to create custom animations with it.

And rare are those who practice that art. Wait 6-10 months, and maybe...

In other words you would need to start from scratch. Nothing to difficult for an experienced 3d modeler, but still, its alot of work (creating a simple sword took me 3 hours).

Exactly. And there's no way I'm going to spend the twenty hours to create something for Oblivion that isn't even original. I see a lot of requests for imports from other games, but I don't believe in it and I won't do it. If other people want to do that, well, have fun. :P

 WoW, yea i know, that it is illegal to copy textures from other games, but the textures can be made in a different way and the meshes can also made with issues that aren't in gothic, well i mean, you don't need the exact copy, just similar...

Yea i know, that it is hard work to create new 3d models, but when i see the retextured original armor models for oblivion, they look all the same, because when you wear the armor you look so thin, but in gothic the armor makes youre muscles bigger, like the chest is larger and the shoulders, but the oblivion models are similar, it is a feeling, that you are in a can of metal. the armor should behave like in gothic to create the feeling, that you have more muscles when wearing higher and higher armor types.

And tnx for the posts, but could you give me some links or torrents for downloading 3d modding tools, so I could create some models, well if I'll have the time and passion i could create these armors by myself...

Well you are the pro's here and give me all you got, the texture mod tools, 3d tools etc (well can i use powerpoint for texture creaton?) and give me also some links (if u can) for guides how to use such programs, because i have never created any 3d model...

And don't laugh or say that for me it is immposible to create such things, all I need is some support and thats all for now, I gues.

P.S. Yea i saw the post for mod creation, but it would be nice if you would give the links here

Get confy, grab some popcorn and a beer, this is one long post.

The problem with that would be the way the character is designed. What use is big meshes if it will clip on the character when he does an animation? What use is it if everything clips on him?

Still its not a bad idea ( *remembers Unreal 2 tournament armors* gets inspired) .

It will take alot of time and patience. You will have to resist headaches and tendancy to grab your monitor and trow it on the wall. But when one is determinded, nothing can stop him.

You will find most of the links on this page. If you dont find it, may I remind you that google is a wonderfull tool.

http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...s_with_Nifskope.

You will need

BSA Unpacker, to unpack your .bsa files (meshes and textures + misc).

Thats around 3.2 extra gig on your HD, and it must be done through cdm (the black window of death windows usses, in other words Command Prompt).

Blender 2.42a

A wonderfull tool. Its what most 3d modelers use for creating new meshes, mainly because its free.

It can be quite hard to get through at first, so make sure you follow wikipedia's "Noob to Pro" tutorials to the letter.

A variant of this is 3ds max, but you would have to download the trial version (30 days on that one), then buy it, if you want to mod. I dont have it so I couldnt help you with that.

Nifskope

This is what you use to view your mesh and change its texture (I repeat, change, not create). It also has many other options that my begginer skill can not yet pierce.

Nifskope/blender export/import scripts (so you can export your mesh into blender).

Make sure you configure them right. As a reminder, this page has the links

http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...s_with_Nifskope

And you will also need Photoshop or GIMP or MS Paint :P or any other image editing file if you want to create your own textures, along with the convidient scripts.

Adobe Photoshops is a wonderfull tool, I would recomend it, since im using it. But its definetly not free, so you may opt for the second choice, GIMP (I cant shed any light on that, I dont have it).

GIMP is free to download on their site. Google it.

Ms Paint, is MS paint. I would use that as uber lazyness or something.

Finally, you will also need Oblivion's construction set (cs). Download it from the official site.

Good tutorials are quite rare... But I recommend you start with Wikipedia's Noob to pro. It will help you get along Blender, that if you chose blender as your main 3d program.

give me also some links (if u can) for guides how to use such programs, because i have never created any 3d model...

I will restate:

Google is a wonderfull tool. But I fell like a jerk, so il at least help you out a bit.

Noob to Pro: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro ( take it in order or you will be confused!)

BSA Unpacker Tutorial: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...packer_Tutorial

Guide to create your sword: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...Ready_to_Export (sickleyield's, and quite decent)

A few tutorials and how to configure your blender scripts:

http://www.niftools.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=150

UV mapping ( oh yeah, its a nightmare until you understand it)

Very good tutorial: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/dojo/17...uv-texture.html

Thats what I can help you with on this fact.

And don't laugh or say that for me it is immposible to create such things, all I need is some support and thats all for now, I gues.

Nah, we're nice guys. The worst thing that could happen to you is get deppresed by the number of things to install/download/configure before you can accually model.

I got discouraged and waited a month before accually installing what I downloaded. (BSA unpacker is the most discouraging).

Then theres understanding blender, you have the feeling you will never figure out all those buttons, but if you follow Noob to Pro, you should be ok. I did, and in about a day, I knew the basics.

So what are you waiting for? Get working, the community needs devoted people such as yourself!

(3d model artists are rare)

Tnx for the feedback, I will get to work as soon as I can, but it will be like in this weeks time, because we are all busy people and for example I am studying in a university, and i have many exams this weak, so the real work (if I won't be so lazy) should be done after 3-5 days time...

I once got told, that if you don't like other people made stuff, create it by yourself :D and so I will!

Again tnx for the feedback, i realy apriciate that (and please don't close this topic, because I'm still human and too lazy to write this one on paper or even copy it

Is this even possible? I haven't been keeping up with Oblivion... but news that it's finally possible to add new weapons and animations might bring me back to the game. And yes, I'm one of those rare people... and if it it's actually possible to do it right, I'll have my crossbow a lot sooner than 6 months from now.
