need to reinstall Skyrim on new drive

I'm reinstalling Skyrim (along with windows and other games) onto a new SSD. I'm looking for a tutorial or troubleshooting guide on how to transfer the game and mod files with NMM.

I thought it would be easy, but the game is CTD on startup and all the mods are gone from NMM list (even though the plug-ins are still listed).

I thought all I had to do was copy/paste the skyrim folder from the old drive to the new one and setup Skyrim again in the brand new drive through Steam.

edit:

Ok verifying files and checking the install in steam, and disabling some NMM plugins fixed it.

but im still looking at an empty mods list in NMM.

How can I import the mods list downloaded with NMM in my previous installation? they all seem to be active in the game, but the NMM list is empty.

That part should be easy. In the settings of NMM you should be able to find the location of where it expects to find your mods - under Settings > Skyrim. This will tell where your mods are expected to be found and the information about them for NMM to manage them. This is a straight file location so copy/cut and paste.

NMM's folder location is separate from Skyrim's location.

I did this many months back, I backed up my Data folder, but I suppose I must have missed a step since when I reinstalled Skyrim to a new HDD, and NMM, Nexus listed all the mods by name, but there was no installation for them.

Gonna keep an eye on this thread, since today I started doing it again today, I'm fresh installing everything I just hope I can get all the same mods I had.

Perfect! I always thought the mod list was in the steam folder where the actual game was installed, so I got confused when I copied the entire steam folder which had all my skyrim data in it but the mod list didn't go with it.

Since my old drive (where the game was originally installed) was C: but is now the F: drive, I found the mod list in F:games/nexus mod manager/skyrim/mods and just had to change nmm to look there instead and restart the program :)
