Steam Service Providers, and some how needing to clarify the Nexus stance again

As somebody that supports the idea of mod authors being able to monetize their talent, I completely support your line of thinking. The Nexus should stay free, if that was its point all along. Just because its sticking to its principles doesn't mean its attacking the idea of paid mods. What it all boils down to is, artists should be able to freely choose for themselves whether to put their work up for sale. With a little (lot) of tweaking, the Steam Workshop would be perfect for that.

There are many reasons mod authors do what they do: exposure, experience, building a portfolio, even their love for the community. But there are a lot more ridiculously talented people who could contribute to the modding community if money was also an incentive.

The way Valve and Bethesda have handled things these past few days has set a really bad impression for paid mods. But if we can stop polarizing and building up strawmods (looking at you 99 dollar horse genitals), I believe everybody could see the obvious benefits of paid mods. Not saying that Nexus is the place for that sort of thing, but it ought to have SOME place.

However if SW version has content that the free version here does not then that's a different kettle of fish altogether.

He posted on his page that the most up to date version will alwaysbe free on nexus..only steam version charges for 'convenience'. Honestly I'm ok with that model.

For the "Love of Talos" why do we have to bring modern myths into this? Can we stick to the story line? lol

I've already asked. The great and mighty Cthulu says he is above such matters as modding, until such a time when he is added to the game. In this instance he must be free, that all may experience his majesty and terror.

Come to think of it, I'm surprised there hasn't been a Call of C'thulhu mod for Skyrim yet, or maybe not one I am aware of.

I do recall his appearance in Oblivion with some glee, though.

I just want the corporate greed out of it. I don't see how it can be justified that someone who makes a great mod to a game that is essentially dropped by the developer, is obligated to give them nearly half of the profit from their work. Bethesda is getting extra money for literally no work. Valve is taking too big a cut for what they have given (just my opinion on that) and shouldn't be doing so. I would say at most 35% between Valve and Bethesda (including the nice run off Valve has extended) and I still think that is way too high. If I could set a personal minimum a modder should be entitled to for their work, it would be 75%, the numbers we are currently at are backwards.

Just keep in mind that once its on Steam, you will not be able to remove it unless Valve is pressured legally. You should read the fine print and make sure you're allowed to have the same version of both mods in two different locations.
