jonas66
I was running Oblivion just fine up to Ultra high on my laptop, and I haven't changed anything in the game menu at all. I've got Win7, but the Oblivion folder is not in program files. All I've done since the last time I've played Oblivion is installing New Vegas from a retail copy, with steam, of course. Just tried to play Oblivion and I don't get past the launcher. Black screen comes up the first time on OBSE launch, then does nothing. After a few seconds I get a message saying timeout, and an error message that says "could not inject .dll." After that, from OBSE loader or the regular launcher it pops up a black screen in the corner of the screen, but then it just stops. No error message or anything. I've tried some basic fixes, and update OBSE. No idea how to fix this. Would appreciate input.
SandsOfTime404
Retail copy with Steam? I'm lost on that one. Are you sure that nothing got randomly overwritten when you installed New Vegas?
jonas66
Retail copy with Steam? I'm lost on that one. Are you sure that nothing got randomly overwritten when you installed New Vegas? Sorry, was late. The retail copy of NV demands you install steam in order for it to work. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has gotten overwritten, but I can't be certain of that. Guess I might have to try a reinstall and see if that works. If I do a reinstall, how does that work out with the data file and existing mods? I have about 40 mods at a guess, and I'm not sure I really care to reinstall all of them.
