AerionBrightflame
Hey guys, I'm a new modder working with Skyrim. I'm still confused by some of the terminology around here but if you could help it would be great. My situation is that I've been working on a new worldspace (an entirely new landmass accessible by boat) and have put many hours into it. I am also hearing all about generating LOD's, so my question is when should I do this? Does it matter? Or should I have done this before starting to work on my worldspace? I'm kind of worried all my work will be for nothing if this is the case, lol. Thanks in advance!

And it does matter if you want distant terrain and objects such as trees and buildings to be visible in your world. Once you generate the LOD for your world it is a good idea to walk your entire space to see if you are happy with the results or need to change a few things to give it a more natural look. But if you do change the lay of the land or add more objects such as trees, rocks, or structures you will have to regenerate the LOD. With the new tools that are available for LOD generation it is a much easier and less stressful than before. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/4727/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/62698/? Make sure you download the Vanilla Tree Billboards file also. Good Luck with your mod. Edited April 28, 2015 by Aragorn58

Tamb0
I think it's a matter of taste. No hard set rule on this one. On a new worldspace, I like to generate LOD straight away so I can see the whole of the surrounding landscape.I then continue to generate new LOD if I make any significant changes to the landscape or textures. Each to their own I suppose.
