Anatriax
Hello fellow Skyrim players!I have a big issue. I just reinstalled Windows, and I'm working on reinstalling Skyrim to it's former (pre-virus) glory. I have a bit of a ritual that I go through whenever I install Skyrim. Here are my normal steps.1) Install Steam (duh)2) Create Steam directory on my games SSD3) Give all user profiles on my PC "Full Control" under security permissions in the folder properties. 4) Install Skyrim, 3 DLC packs, and the Unofficial patches.5) Iinstall and run the most recent LOOT Beta (downloaded fresh every time I have to install)6) Install SKSE, and all plugins that I use7) Install Mod Organizer, and begin the process! Currently, I'm stuck on step 5. Newest LOOT beta has been downloaded and installed to a folder where it has "Full Control", and I've gone into properties, and made sure that it always runs as Administrator. I have attempted to run LOOT one time outside of Mod Organizer so the system knows exactly where it is, however... It freezes. I have to open Task Manager in order to close LOOT. If I stop the process, run CCleaner, reboot, come back into Windows, open Steam, and try to run LOOT again (with Task Manager open) I can watch it go from "Responding" to "Not Responding". I'm fairly sure I've done everything properly, and I've even uninstalled and reinstalled LOOT (both stable and beta) several times now, and I'm at a total loss. This is the first time LOOT has ever behaved this way for me. Anyone have suggestions? I'm dying to play my favorite game! :'(
Anatriax
Update: The problem has been narrowed down to freezing when I update my masterlist
Deleted133263User
I dont use MO .. But I think you just need to know a few things to solve this MO comes with its own version of LOOT ( I think, Tannin used Wrinklyninjas LOOT libraries to make his own version of LOOT which is a part of MO, so that LOOT recognised the Virtual File System which MO uses ) .. .. Does MO tell you about that in its documentation ? As such it gets updated when MO is updated by Tannin, so you dont need to install the separate version - However I believe you can do that : Whether the original external LOOT is compatible with your currently installed version of MO I could not tell you But the info I think you need is on the STEP forum http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer#Third_Party_Programs Have a read of the Third party programs, but also the following section "Automatically Recognised Executeables" - I think in your case MO just does not know where you have installed LOOT, so does not recognise it as being installed. So you cannot launch it from MO ( I think thats how it should go because MO needs to intercept the load ordering to affect the VFS ) Another option you have is asking the tools authors ? Lots of help here from many MO users http://forum.step-project.com/forum/62-mod-organizer-support/ and I think Tannin himself hangs out there occasionally. LOOT development topic ( because you are testing a beta feedback to the programmer might be useful if you have any ) http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1516193-rel-loot-thread-18/
CyborgArmGun
Ok I read it right, herp! Just restart MO. I've had this happen to me a lot lately. It's like it ca't read the masterlist at all :/ Edited May 3, 2015 by CyborgArmGun
lofgren
It takes my LOOT installation quite a while to update the masterlist, long enough that I start to think it's frozen, and then it works fine. Takes about two minutes.
Anatriax
I figured it out, thanks guys :) I had NO masterlist at all, so there wasn't one to update. I just ran LOOT outside of MO, closed it, went back into MO, ran LOOT, and it was smooth as butter.
