ok, so I posted earlier todayat i was having problems with my fallout 3 crashing when i tried to start a new game. i was looking through all the folders and saw some stuff from the mods that i had installed. I tried deleting all of the traces of the mods to see if that would work, but i also accidentally deleted fallout3.esp and now the game crashes on startup.... help T_T

if you have removed the Fallout3.esm file, and you don't have a backup, you will probably need to re-install the game

i don't think you can find this plugin anywhere else (unless there is a backup of it somewhere in the game's folder, which i doubt)

besides, if you install the game again, and work on adding mods properly, and follow instructions and all, you should have a lot less problems (and no problems like CTD on starts or such)

sorry i can't offer a better idea, but i don't think there is any alternative to this, that will fix your game

reinstall the game

or

retrieve the file from your recycle bin

how do you reninstall game with steam? i looked all over the fallout 3 page in my steam library, and in the fallout 3 folder, and i cant find an unintall thing (maybe im just looking in the wrong place or just being dumb)

This confuses me aswell, as once its downloaded it installs automatically, so where the actual exe to reinstall when it gets messed up. The only answer I can think is it means you need re-download the game all over. I wish there was a howto sticky on this somewhere. If you dont mind waiting, ask Steams support team to get back to you on how its done.

All I do when messing up my Oblivion or Fallout3 games with mods, is first uninstall any application mods (that need windows to uninstall) and then replace the steamapps/common/fallout3 goty folder with an earlier one, and do the same to the Documents/My Games/Fallout3 folder.

So if youve got a backup copy of your C drive from before it started messing up, rename or delete both those folders and paste in the older versions from your backup. It helps if its saved as a disk image, so you can mount it and see exactly what to copy.

It also helps if the backup version is from when the game had no mods installed. If you had application mods allready installed, dont uninstall them, theyll revert to the original setup using the same paths as before
