Wanting good quest mods for the next game

Fight Against the Thalmor - Five part quest mod, each part is an individual mod. New locations are added to the world of Skyrim and if you happen to be anti-Thalmor and want an opportunity to bring a further ass kicking upon them, give this mod a go.

Moonpath to Elsywere - This mod takes you outside of Skyrim (like Faalskar does) to the homeland of the Kahjits. Gopher did a Let's Play and review of it and it looks like a lot of fun! I watched his LP and the mod was very well done from storyline to quests to voice acting.

No and no.

Fight against the Thalmor isn't really a quest mod. You have to go to a location and kill all Thalmor and that's it. Only the last part (there are "only" 4 parts by the way) has similarities with a quest but be warned that there can be a bug which makes all music in Skyrim stops! And the third part is actually unplayable if you have joined the Legion.

Moonpath to Elsweyr...well I'm sure there was a lot of work put into this mod and the environment looks good but the storyline is kind of lame and after you have finished it you have the feeling that there is missing something. If you take a look in the Creation Kit you can see that there are some quests listed that didn't make it in the final mod. And so it feels unfinished. It is definitely not in the same league like Falskaar or Wyrmstooth! But still better than Fight against the Thalmor!

Last but not least I recommend "Death Mountain" Part 1 & 2. But be warned you gonna die here! Don't even think about playing this if you are under level 40.

Novem99, played this in my current game and I am definitely going to play that again in the next game.

Will be tracking Discworld and Sword of Sigan - I am a fan of Someguy2000 from Fallout New Vegas.

One thing I discovered in playing quest mods is that the most enjoyable ones, for the most part, have clear objectives and maps with arrows or enable the use of the clairvoyance spell.

Well, this one is pretty fun without any kind of quest objectives/arrows...to the knee.

Out of stuff I have played myself:

The Shadow of Meresis: One of the better adventures I've played. It has some pretty atmospheric segments, and one very unique dungeon. My one critique would be that it felt like it built up to a more epic ending than it delivered, but other than that it's pretty top notch.

Moon and Star: An insanely well-made mod. Not only does it have full voice acting, but in some cases the VA's are actually better than the vanilla ones. If it has a flaw, it's that it's a bit short and after a fairly mellow start it suddenly takes a very dramatic turn, which I personally found a bit jarring. Also, it gets perhaps a bit too ambitious right at the end - there is a puzzle that I found a bit unintuitive to figure out and had to resort to actually look up the solution. If you mess up particularly badly, it's possible to get stuck in an unwinnable situation. That said, this mod is definitely worth playing.

Challenge of the Daedra - Waking Nightmare II: This one pretty crazy. Let's just say that if you're up for a long, challenging and occasionally insane dungeon, you might want to check it out.

The Hanging Gardens: A large and fairly advanced Dwemer-themed quest/dungeon mod. Unfortunately the author currently has it set to hidden. I can only hope it becomes available again eventually.

EDIT: Seems like The Hanging Gardens is now back. Huzzah!

I would recommend the Fifth Gate but with the following warnings:

1. You lose your items for a while before you get them back

2. If you're running Realistic Needs and Disease you'll probably die of starvation/thirst

3. It's a horror mod so not lore-friendly

That being said I thought it was great

What about the mod called The Fifth Gate? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24351/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D24351&pUp=1

Of this new bunch to try, The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal seems to be gaining in popularity.

Fifth Gate is... decent, though it has room for improvement. While over-all playable, I found it a bit glitchy and kinda unpolished. Also, while the beginning and ending are both great, the middle got a bit tedious. I recall a lot of running around in corridors that all look the same.

Just wanted to report that I removed several mods and added:

Salem - Arena Tournament and DLC?

The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal?

Pirates of Skyrim - The Northern Cardinal Under the Black Flag?

CONAN Hyperborian Age?

Apocalypse Magic

The new game loaded fine. I am now on level 25 and everything seems to be without problems.

BTW, I couldn't get Apocalypse Magic and Midas Magic Evolved to load together. Bummer on that point. Have not started any of the new mods yet (except Apocalypse Magic) but hopefully they will all work without Papyrus troubles.
