Advice for Steam Workshop --> Nexus newbie

Hello

I have decided to switch from using Steam Workshop mods on Skyrim to using Nexus.

 

Has anyone made this transition before and have tips for someone doing the same?

 

I have already unsubscribed from all mods in the workshop, removed their files from the SteamApps folder, uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim.

 

I am hoping there will be no problems, but would appreciate any tips that might make this process idiot proof.

Try out NMM for quick, easy mod installation. You could also have a look at MO (mod organiser) or just install mods manually (that's what I do, since I like having complete control). But yeah, NMM = the easy mod tool.

I have heard modders talk about NMM and MO, there seem to be two camps. I probably need the easier one tho. ^_^;

NMM is probably simpler for a neophyte, while MO has more advanced features. NMM is a general purpose mod manager that can be used with more games (17) while MO is a Bethsoft Gambryo engine mod manager that supports just the 4 main Bethsoft games that use the Gambryo game engine.

 

For Skyrim, I prefer to download manually then use NMM to install the mod.
