warning: there might be a few spoilers (not major)

After spending 24 hours with Fallout: New Vegas, it occured to me... THIS GAME SUCKS! by this i mean it can not even handle a few (about 50 :l) simple mods! a few problems I've had.. also post below what you find wrong with this game..

rants

- the start is slow and boring

- after the start its like just walking around being bored..

- few weapons at the start

- caps are hard to come across

- the game ends - leaving you nothing to do..

- game doesn't have a boost of fun in it.. i get that from mods XD

- ammo types are hard to come across

- not many shops

- the strip? wtf with that.. i mean really.. its not even 1 street... (btw thanks for the one strip mod)

- choosing your ending is stupid and pointless.. you basicly want the one that is the easiest...

- the mojave is a boring place to walk around.. i wanted a mount to ride around

- not many towns

- i had no idea what i was doing in the beginning of the game, i would walk around trying to figure out what to do

- quests are the same old boring stuff.. walk here do this...

- perks every 2 levels... dumb

- wtf with the achievements? they give you perks or something.. 50% of the time i do what they want in them and i don't see progress..

- whos the bad guy and whos the good guy - in the middle of the game you have to choose who you want to help when you know nothing about either of them..

- armor variety lacks..

- the crafting bench doesn't really help you much... i wanted to use it in the beginning but then i found out i needed this and that.. got so bored of running around

- it was close to the end of the game when i finally got a new gun...

- ammo is hard to come across

- weapon upgrading (Scopes and stuff) is stupid.. i'm not buying a silencer JUST for my pistol... i want that to be on my snipers..

- weapon variety lacks.. a few snipers.. a few pistols... i want to find a weapon that i know NOTHING about and still have something better be out there for me!

- putting the game with steam.. wtf? auto updates but.. ive had modding troubles, my game crashing i keep trying to start it ALL my friends keep getting spammed by ######## is now playing Fallout: new vegas..

bugs

water appears like nothing from far away / messed up land in water - this might be one of my graphics problems

game crash while starting w/ mods - the mods might have been messed up

game crash while starting w/ no mods - this was not me! i would put mods in, try to start it, crash crash crash... ( NEXT IS A SPOILER!! SORRY! but its a prob that ruined the game for me..)

the simulation at the at the lucky 38 would not start

finally, the game stopped working for me... i mean completely just SHUT DOWN at the end of the game to :l i beat it it ends i quit, now every time i start it w/ or w/ out mods.. nothing!

please post below what glitches or troubles you find with it.. i bet i can get a list about a page long...

can't wait for the next patch :l

The only problems I have with it are the constant freezes (which are about 5 million times more annoying than CTDs) and the atformentioned CTDs. Other than that, the only complaint I have is that the Energy Weapon ammo is too rare. I can't even use my Laser RCW properly without having to worry about the fact I only have 4 full mags for it.

Scarcity: makes ammo and caps previous, although I'd argue there is too much of both.

Moral Ambiguity: as in real life it is often difficult to tell who is good and who is evil. All you can do is align yourself with those whose goals match your own. But Id say the game isn't ambiguous enough. Its pretty clear who the bastards are.

Open gameplay: allows you to explore your world and figure things out little by little. Id say in FONV though they nudge you a little too hard in one direction.

Choosing ending: I usually choose the path of greatest resistance

Crafting bench = more ammo. converting ammo.

Achievements: many of them do give you perks.

Perks every 2 levels: makes you think more about your build. Every level is too powerful IMHO.

A lot of the topics you rant about are the same things I have issue with, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. You think they go too far on some things that I think they don't go far enough. Which goes to show that you can't please everyone, and maybe fallout isn't for everyone.

Bugs, we can agree, suck. Especially getting a ctd at a critical moment.

Which is why I applaud the developers for making a game that encourages modification. All the developers need to do in the end is make a generally decent game, that becomes great with the mods that address your own personal issues with the game. In this respect I think that they have done a great job.

The one thing I am really missing in this fallout is more schematics. I've a bunch of deathclaw hands slowly spoiling in the fridge

i love how the creates of this game do a trash job and all of a sudden all these modders know how to fix it, how to make it better lol...

also, park77, "Open gameplay: allows you to explore your world and figure things out little by little. Id say in FONV though they nudge you a little too hard in one direction." i agree they nudge you to hard. i only disagree just a little.. exploring the world.. well..

fallout 3 had a world about the same size... but it was divided into like sections with crumbled buildings. this world is about the same size but its open and not closed in by something like mountains. anyways.. it feels like when your walking like.. at the beginning i was like.. k what do i do... in the distance i saw new vegas... i start running over there i thought it was so close but it took me like 20 minutes to get over there and that was on my 5th try.. i died because of some bugs 1 hitting me..

my point: the world is to big, there is not really a good means of travel.. lol its to hard to get around in this huge area without dying on your feet.. tbh 1st thing i thought of was where is my mount! lol

also i think they might of left this area open for modders to create things... only problem i see is that we will never fill all the spots...

Sorry but I can't agree most of them, except some CTD issue. It also happens to me and quite annoying.

I think you just choose wrong style of game. This is not your favorite style.

Maybe linear style RPG can make you satisfy :) Direct play, no need to roam around, stick to main story, small map, etc
