GBHis
i have tried various filepaths: My Book<IMG src="C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\Book\dvpag1re.dds" width=490 height=650><IMG src="Book\dvpag1re.dds" width=490 height=650>-Lucifer MortoraI couldn't tell if you've got it to work, but that looks wrong. Have you tried with<IMG src="Book/dvpag1re.dds" width=490 height=650>? If that doesn't work either, try correcting the case. Or replace "Book/dvpag1re.dds" with "Textures/Book/dvpag1re.dds". This is really strange -- I've never had problems with images.
Michelene
ive jsut gone onto TESCS for morrowind and looked at the abc's for barbarians book which also has pictures in. they are .tga files so technically the principle should be the same, im going to try experimenting with .tga but ive tried before and it hasnt worked Yes... the .dds files in question are compressed Targa (.tga) graphics, hence my suggestions. Also, I just tested the method that I suggested and it worked beautifully... there's now a copy of Playboy (called "Play-Elf") sitting on a table in one of my houses... LOL. christ well can you pleeeease add my msn and send me a tga of right filesize/type etc so i can just use it as a base and change it because i have NO origional .dds files seeing as my disc has gone missing. and could you walk me through how to get the book to see the image file? its mostly the filepath script im having trouble with please, i beg of you, i've tried oh so hard x_x; My apologies to those who already know this... while I don't have a fix for you, I can tell you of a problem I had when learning to create books with dropcaps - important to note that I am using Word as my word processor, and just pasting the text into the CS: At first, I couldn't figure out what was going on - some dropcaps weren't appearing in the game book, but some were. I noticed finally that all the text I typed in Word and pasted was the text (or image) that wasn't showing up properly. Any text I typed directly into the CS (as in editing an existing book) showed up fine (provided I didn't have any typos). ANYWAY long story longer than it needs to be -- turned out Word had replaced all my quotation marks (used in the filepath) to smart-quotes - which the CS will not re-convert to straight quotes when you paste it in. Though the CS will display it, the actual game can't read the smart-quote and so ignores it, thus messing up the filepath to the image file. So, my advice if you use Word, or paste text in from an editor which is not strictly text-based (rather than Notepad), your quotation marks might be the culprit! EDIT: changed text slightly to make meaning clearer; thanks Abramul!
Abramul
Notepad isn't text-only? Perchance you mean WordPad? Are you sure you are using the exact same size as the image you created?
LuciferM
Notepad isn't text-only? Perchance you mean WordPad? Are you sure you are using the exact same size as the image you created? thats not me problem! the filepath suggested up there: src="book\dvpag1.tga(or dds)" is fine i jsut dont knwo where the 'book' folder is located! Michelene
i jsut dont knwo where the 'book' folder is located! C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\Book It is not case sensitive. There are also \menus50\book and \menus80\book subdirectories -- though you only ever reference just "book\[yoursubfolder]\filename.dds" -- the "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures\Menus[50][80]" part is implied. You should add your own subfolder under \book to keep your files separate. This is especially important if you are not using new filenames for your images, and just editing existing ones - in that case, the files referenced will be pulled from the BSA first, even if they exist in the \menus folders. From the Wiki on book formatting:When you use a sub-folder of Data\Textures\Menus (e.g. "Data\Textures\Menus\Mymod"), you can use only one image, but when you run Oblivion in low resolution this image will be resized ingame and might not look as good as it would when you use three separate images in the Menus, "Menus50" and "Menus80" folders. LuciferM
Was that mine? You can ask me anything if you're stuck.I'm having the I HAVE NO GREETING problem as well, but not because of my mod. It's the Main Quest cut-off mod doing it to me... Very annoying. Lol, why yes, yes it was, i did everything that was said, gone over it twice now but i cant seem to get my character to greet me or talk about anything, but nevermind. My main concern right now is fiding something that'll undo my changes because, yep, i decided to experiement IN MY OWN WIP MOD. stupidstupidstupid. Though if i get anywhere with this, i'll prolly need your help with quests, either that or just employ some people to give me a hand. P.S i'm afriad fargoth and ra'virr were the first two on my hitlist on morrowind, i hate those two with a vengance for some strange demented reason. Skink-in-tree's-shade = the win. Gokou135
I read earlier on someone saying that photoshop cannot save .dds's. That is just plain blasphomey. I had some issues getting the dang dds plugin working from Nvidia at first as well. I started out not being able to get the plugin recognized in the drop down box of PS where it should be. The issue ended up being that i needed to pay some attention to the read me and actually put the plugin in the right folder. Without it being in the plugin folder it will not work properly.
