Robe Request

I was wondering if anyone could make a robe that looks something like this:

I feel like a lot of the robes in game are kind of bland and the mods that i've tried kind of over-do it. I was thinking a robe like these would be a nice addition to the game, maybe in a few different colors. I'd prefer to have the robe and hood be separate items so i can enchant each if possible.

-Thanks!

OooOoooh...

I like that...but I think it would look better in blue and white, or maybe red and white...

like blue main and white trims with a bunch of runes on it...lke in dark messiah of might and magic...

I don't think you've seen something like this because anyone who made it would pull his/her hair out trying to make it work without clipping...which would be impossible.

A piece of clothing that drapes over from the front chest and down over the wrist means that piece of clothing would be attached to the wrist no matter what animation is played (heal cast, 2-handed sword attacks, carrying a shield/torch, etc.). It would look very strange. Oblivion does not have a cloth simulator so cloth does not move realistically...it just moves with the skeletal bones near it.

Also, you don't see hair in hoods because when you put the hood on, it replaces the hair. You would have to model the hair into the hood and you can just guess how many permutations would be needed for the vanilla male/female sets...horrible to think about all the modded hairs out there. So to include the hair, it would have to act like a wig but may not "match" the actual hair your character has. Then again, you could probably get away with the hood in the tail slot but you would then be faced with hair clipping through the hood. :whistling:

Trickery could be done using a transparent plane (using a gradient texture or gradient in the alpha channel) on the hood down to the face to simulate a shadowy hood. This has been done in other mods.

It could still be done, especially more like the image in post #5 where the top cover only goes part way down the front of the chest and maybe only goes down to the waist in the back...such as tapering off in a V shape.

You just have to allow room for creative freedoms to get around some game engine drawbacks and also realize it may not turn out exactly like you want. Now that I think about it...requests are rarely ever exactly how a requester wants simply because they didn't do it themselves. This is a major reason why people start modding in the first place. hehehe.
