Floatsup
Australia might survive being in the southern hemisphere, sounds logical anyway. NY, and all the other major cities are gone anyway.
Omny
What if it took place in Chernobyl? But in a bit of irony, instead of being an abandoned ghost town, it's a technological wonderland, Like a radioactive Disneyworld! Though really, I'd like to see it take place anywhere outside the US. Why not someplace like South Africa, or Russia, or even Brazil or Japan? Actually, those last two may be great candidates. They both are pretty big in the fields of science and technology. Sounds like a great place to find laser guns and battle robots.

capn_tucker
I rather doubt you will see a Fallout game that takes place outside the US. The retro-50s futuristic Americana is part and parcel of the Fallout Universe. In any case, there is a lot of territory in the US that could be used. The northeast and southeast have not been done at all; I personally would like a visit to the Deep South. Mutated alligators, mosquitoes, snakes etc. That being said, from all the talk of the Institute and the Commonwealth in Fallout 3, I am convinced Fallout 4 will take place in Massachusetts, and possibly even further north. The next Fallout from Obsidian IMO will be in either Utah or Arizona. Just my 2 caps..

33stradale
There'd be no need to set it in japan because of all these otaku geeks doing modding on nexus can easily make any game game look like some random anime cartoon Setting the game in China woudn't get past the drawing board stage _ in America I think the south would be an excellent candidate... make the game something the Point Lookout DLC had the potential to be if they didn't mess it up, plus like capn_tucker said there's a lot of cool wildlife around there
Thephedora
China would be interesting, Cept for a small chance of a massive amount of feral ghouls, some weird variant of super mutants, And the lack of the cool government conspiracy thing. I have a weird feeling China's probably going through a "left for dead" or "random generic zombie survival theme number 25" in the fallout universe. Maybe new york or expansion on the American mid west. I haven't heard anything on the mid-west chapter of the BOS. There was that think about something with the Legion and Denver I read somewhere. Florida or Hawaii could be interesting too. Cept not enough real room. It would force a way to travel by vehicle though. Maybe a boat, a Half-life-esqe dune buggy, or something to get from Island to island. Maybe sort of like horses were in TES4.Something that would involve the commonwealth would be nice but I have a feeling it would be just a cold DC. Oh wait yeah nuclear fallout... probably just a Canadian DC minus the ghouls, super mutant invasion, mass raider parties, and other oddity found in DC. That's probably why the commonwealth is doing so well. Probably less threats... Or new ones >.> Rogue androids anyone? I would say Africa, South America, or Europe, but I think Africa would be largely be an African NV, South America would probably be a South American Maryland, and instead of rednecks we have crazy drug lords or something, and Europe is probably a Giant DC ruins in the fallout universe. Russia, and Australia seems like the most likely for out of the US Fallout. Sort of a much bigger, different NV, all sorts of unique critters, in Australia, or a similar FO3 with a nice balance of city and wasteland in Russia. Maybe a 3D visitation of California is in order from FO 1 and 2. Course if FO4 is going to be like TES5 game engine... TLDR? Hard to say. New Vegas, DC, LA, the PITT, and Maryland, all have something really unique going for them. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the Dev's pick. MercsRus
Louisiana Glowing Jungles or rather swamps of burnt and mutant plants With the dense jungle you could hide in a tree while your foe looks for you (a perfect gift to the people who invested their level into sneak)The weather would be your worst nightmare heat, rad rain, flooding, mud, and If your in a sewer while its raining you better get to higher ground between drowning and the dangers that lurks in the water your time is short. The differences between day and night would be like two different games You are exploring a mall during the day and the yells of people but at night they would be the last thing you worry about And driving jeeps would be restricted due to the jungles over growth of the plants and the swamp You could have New Orleans like a risen Atlantis due to levies breaking and then the water lowering making it disappear then reappearA city lost with priceless tec risen from the deep and every faction wanting itYou could also visit the scrapyards in Amelia Pirates BrotherhoodLocalsWho will you fight for or rather who's first on your list Edited January 23, 2011 by MercsRus
WickedViking
New york would be cool, but there's a lot of games at the moment taking place in NY. So im affraid it would be "just another NY game" The game should stay in the States, Afterall a big part of the consept is the America 50s theme. The next game should be in Hawaii. Naah thats stupid. GETbacon
I think Canada would be awesome for the next fallout, just think of all the things that could go on there. Polar Yuo Gui, Natives trying to re-establish their land, Canadians try to commit genocide on the Americans, also It wouldn't deviate from fallout lore too much. Also a fresh start as things that happened in the states Might not effect Canada, for example the enclave could still be a serious threat, or Canada wasn't as hit a hard as the states. But the chance of that happening are slim too none but neat none the less.
