Help...I guess WARNING!!! WARNING!! SPOILERish

I accidentaly (I do not know how to spell it, shut up) did the last quest of the thieves guild, I skipped like one or two, because "The Stranger never showed up ANYWHERE, in Anvil. I was sneaking around the Imperial palace seeing what I can steal, so I went in the Imp. Library (not knowing stealing the scroll was a quest). I steal some stuff but since I did not officially have the quest i never got the scroll so I had to summon that arrow thing, and the thing, and the door, and all that. (trying to be vague.) So I summoned the scroll to please the guy, and stuff, so I used the console to get the scroll. Here is the strange thing, the first time I did this he accepted the scroll and gave me that other thing you know the round little thing. But my game crashed shortly after so I got Fckd on that. Now when I do have the scroll in my inven it does not work. What should I do?

I would first of all post this in spoilers. That section is there for a reason. But nevermind that now, a moderator will move it.

 

I don't know what you should do. If you skip a quest or two a lot can go wrong. Since you used the console to skip two quests it's not a common issue anymore we can't really help much I think. Don't you have an earlier save in which you still had the problem with the stranger? I know we weren't able to solve that, but maybe you can ask on the official forums.

(1) Return to a saved game that pre-dates the time when you messed up... and just do that section of the game all over again.

 

(2) If you can't do that, then don't sweat it. Oblivion is not a linear game and that's why you can sometimes screw yourself out of a particular quest line. Such things happen in real life, too... depending on whatever actions and choices we make. That's okay... we just live and learn. There's plenty of other things to do in Oblivion and most of them can be done in any order you please. 8)
