Deleted19761User
So I've been having problems getting Blender 2.49 to work. Couldn't import or export properly because it couldn't find the version of Python it wanted, despite many reinstalls of both Blender and Python 2.6. Finally got fed up and checked blender's site. I saw the 2.56 version has Python 3.1 packaged with it. (finally someone decided on a "new" Python version to use.) The only problem so far for me is I have not found a single Nif import/export script for this version. Not sure if the older scripts will work with it or not. My experience with Python 3.1, its not very backwards compatible. Anyone know if I'm out of luck or is there a way around this? I know both versions of blender can be installed. I read the tutorial on how to do it. Tried it, still doesn't want to recognize that Python 2.6 is installed. Edit: Oh I did install Pyffi as well, in the right order of installs. Blender,Python,Pyffi. :wallbash: Edited December 31, 2010 by Guest
hallowedking
Did you get the package from the nexus for blender and all plugins?I myself had the 2.5 beta and 2.49 installed and found the new beta 2.56 release yesterday,so now I have the newest beta and 2.49.The new beta does not have any nif-plug ins and probably wont until the official non beta version is released. For me I am doing a model with the beta and since there is no way to export to nif,I'm just gonna export as an .obj or .3ds file since nifskope should be able to import those file types without any problems. If you can't get python or anything to install correctly and have something you want to make you could probably just use the beta and export the files to a type nifskope can import. Deleted19761User
I've got Blender installed. So that's no problem. Works just fine. the 2.56 beta. Importing a OBJ file to Nifskope though just results in a completely back mesh. So I'm really just doing process of elimination here till I get something that works... LHammonds
As already said, anything newer than Blender 2.49b will not allow you to import/export NIF files. Get Blender and related programs from this Nexus page. It has detailed instruction for installing Blender 2.49b so that you can import/export NIF files.
