cchoay
What I am seeking to do is turn the Vampire Lord's Drain Life spell from a Fire and Forget into one that is delivered by concentration. The problems I have encountered trying to do this are: 1) I can't seem to find the spell in the first place. 2) Even looking at other spells, the delivery method and casting is always grayed out. Is it impossible to do what I am attempting to do?
lofgren
The spell is definitely in there somewhere, though I don't remember what it is called. In order to change the casting method for spells you must first remove all magic effects, then change the casting method for he magic effects, then add them back to the spell. cchoay
That is very, very helpful. Thank you very much. Now if only I could figure out which is the correct Drain Life to edit. Also, would you happen to know how I can change the looks of a spell? For example, since I'm changing it to a conc spell, maybe have it look like Sparks for example. Staff BigBizkit Posted May 5, 2015 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2015 I've done something similar by creating a new vampire lord concentration (aimed) spell that also "absorbs lives" (perk progression). However, it would cause _insane_ script lag for some reason even after I REMOVED the perk progression script from the effect in question. I did not go all the way testing on and off trying to figure out yet another CK curveball, though. Look for the drain spell that is in the vampire lord spell formlist and has the perk progression script attached to its magic effect. From your questions I deduce that you are rather new to spell editing so you might want to look up basic tutorials first.
lofgren
It makes zero sense for a magic effect with no script attached to cause script lag.
cchoay
Yes, I am indeed very new to spell editing lol. What tutorial would you recommend, kit? And script lag, huh. Well I guess I'll try it out on my end and see if it happens to me too.
lofgren
The spells are DLC1VampireDrain0XAlt, where X = 5 to
Staff BigBizkit Posted May 5, 2015 Staff Share Posted May 5, 2015 It makes zero sense for a magic effect with no script attached to cause script lag.Yeah I know, but how many times have I been thinking that ("this makes zero sense") for something the CK does. What I did was make a concentration spell and give it the perk progression script.Ingame it would work just fine but for whatever reason it caused the vampire transformation to become extremely delayed. I know it sometimes takes like 10 seconds to actually fire, but this made it take 60 seconds plus. Problem was still there after I removed the script and it was caused by me using the spell. At that point I just shrugged and was like "nope, CK, I am not playing that game today" and moved on. as for tutorials, idk. I am not one for tutorials and prefer to backwards engineer things to find out how they work.
lofgren
That sounds like an issue with the vampire change script doing some kind of clean up before reverting you rather than general script lag.
