Crashing

OH, I just thought of something: Have you removed any mods lately? If you did, your patch will have a missing master and cause the game to crash. 98% of the time, you can rebuild the patch, and then do the "different masters" thing on the saved games tab; but there are a handful of mods that have very specific uninstallation instructions, and can mess up the works if not followed.

No, that's not how you properly build the patch, Moonsun. If you only select the merge patch option you will miss many many benefits and compatibility "fixes" from the other options. That's what Bash Tags are for. They aren't just there for no reason, they are tagged for specific causes to alleviate issues and ensure the mod(s) function properly.

Adam9122: You are still not quite getting it... In the box on the right you can select each individual option you want to use. You don't have to select everything on the right, it's optional. The reason the names of items have changed is because you have selected that specific tweak. Again you need to actually read the descriptions for each option you are selecting, and obviously you are still not doing that. You're just randomly and blindly clicking around hoping for the best, and that's not going to get you very far as you've noticed. I suggest you actually take the time, maybe 10-15 minutes tops, to read and understand what each option in the Bashed Patch does. When you mouse over them a description is listed. In the ReadMe that's included in the archive you downloaded there is even more in-depth information about all of the Bashed Patch options. I suggest you take the time to read it also. Until you decide to pay attention and read some information you will continue to experience these "issues".

I think this was already linked but here it is again. You would greatly benefit from reading it.

Good luck.

Smooth, I know you probably think I'm an idiot or something, but I've been doing that practically from the start. (The "start" being ever since I learned how to build my Bashed Patch "properly".) But I appreciate all your help, and thanks for the link.

dallen, I completely un-installed Oblivion and re-installed it using the guide Hickory gave me. So I have a completely clean install. The only things I have installed are OBSE, OBGE, OBMM, BOSS, and Wrye Bash, and Alternative Start by Ship.

Thanks

I'm still not sure what to do about that glitch.

I don't think you have learned how to build your patch properly, because you say

In my inventory, instead of saying "Silver Arrow", it says "Arrow, Silver".

Now, if you knew how to build your patch correctly, you would know exactly why that was.

Okay, just to prove I know how to build my Bashed Patch properly, this is what I do:

I go through every option in the left column, while I'm going through the left column I look to see if there are any options in the right column. If there are options, I look through each one and read the description for each one. If I think I need it I check it off. If I check something off in the right column I check the corresponding option in the left column.

I would assume that the "Arrow, Silver" thing would be in the "Tweak Settings" or "Tweak Names" option but I can't seem to find it. I also can't find anything that possibly has to do with that weird glitch.

Well, on that part, he may have the patch built properly-as apparently it's working-he just didn't know what that option "meant".

Knowing how to build a patch 'properly' requires that you understand what you are doing. If you do not understand what you are checking, how can you state that you know how to do it correctly? Answer: you cannot.

Yes, that is in the "tweak names" section. After you get used to it, you may find this a useful feature-as opposed to a glitch. As for the vvideo glitch, does this happen all the time, or is there a specific series of events that make it happen? For example: Let's say walking through the door, casting a shield spell, and shooting an arrow causes you to fall the the floor. Sometimes casting the shield before walking through the door helps.

What I suggest you do is to rebuild your patch, taking care to do what you say above, BUT only check off these options:

Merge Patches

Import .... <--- Check ANYTHING that start with 'Import'

Cobl Catalogs <-- ONLY if you use Cobl

Contents Checker

Leveled Lists

Race Records

SEWorld Tests <-- ONLY if you have Shivering Isles installed

For now, UNCHECK everything else and rebuild your patch.

You have a point there. I didn't seem to have any big difficulties building mine. Basically, with a few exceptions, I installed with OBMM, played 50 questions with the OMOD thing, then did the BOSS thing, then went back to OBMM and put the patch under all the "unrecognized mods". Then when I did my patch, basically options that didn't apply to me just weren't there. Well, there were some exceptions, like obviously I'm not using "cobl exhaustion" and "power exhaustion" at the same time. Also, I utilized the "Mod checker"/"suggestions" at the bottom and did what that said. Very occasionally, I get a random MTD (and that's mainly when my antivirus decides its time to scan the Oblivion folder) or a CTD on exit, but I understand that parts pretty much everyone.
