OOO with yellow blocks

I just installed OOO for the first time (any mod for the first time), and the mod seemed to have applied, but I am getting random yellow blocks. They seem to only appear where there would be something to loot, like a chest or crate. I installed the full version and have both the esp and esm running. Is this mod dependent on anything else? Did I not copy a texture correctly?

Thanks

You have a mod conflict. Please use BOSS and Wrye Bash (for a Bashed Patch) to sort your load order. Also, make sure you read the installation instructions for Wrye Bash VERY CAREFULLY.

Im sorry I lied. I also got an oblivion mod manager. After trying once, I read that the boot order can screw things up so I got the mod manager. But changing boot order didn't work either. Should I still get BOSS and Wrye bash, or is my mod manager basically the same thing? And what do you mean by mod conflict? Thanks for the very quick help.

If you have any number of mods you should always use BOSS and a Bashed Patch. A conflict is an issue where two or more mods are changing the same part (mesh, texture etc.) of the game. If one mod removes or overwrites a resource that another mod relies on, this is called a conflict. Usually minor conflicts don't cause any hassle because the latest in the load order is the 'winner' and gets it's resource added to the game. It's not always that simple, though, especially with large overhaul mods like OOO, that is why BOSS and Wrye Bash are so important, not to mention that Wrye Bash is THE most useful tool in the average modder's arsenal.

You say you installed BOSS and Wrye Bash. Did you run BOSS, and did it update your masterlist and order your mods without error? Did you also build a Bashed Patch successfully? Please don't assume that people, who may be across the other side of the world, are aware of what you have or have not done. We need information!

Sorry, i'm still very new to modding. I opened the BOSS application and it sent me to a URL that said it detected OOO and reordered my files accordingly. I ran the game and still had the same problem. I have no idea how to use Wrye Bash though. I clicked on the application named "7z" and a command box pops up for a split second then goes away. I don't know if this is notable, but when I reinstalled Oblivion, I installed it in a folder on my desktop to bypass windows vista nonsense. When I installed Wrye Bash, it put a "PYW" file on my desktop. It says "Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw". Should this be in my oblivion folder somewhere with the other Wrye bash files?

Also, in my data folder, I have a lot of Bethesda Softworks Archive files. Like "Oblivion - Sounds/textures/meshes/voices". Should I put these into the data>sound/texture/mesh/voice folders? Should I have any ESP, ESM, or text documents inside my data folder? I have a feeling I just have a file in an incorrect folder.

Thanks for the help.

EDIT: I also forgot to add, I do not get any missing files when I do not run OOO. I ran OOO with and without natural environments, and got the errors. Then I ran natural environments with and without OOO. The only time I get yellow block errors is with OOO running.

Woah, woah, woah! Never, ever, ever install ANYTHING onto your desktop... seriously, NEVER! To bypass Windows UAC, install to somewhere like C:\Games\Oblivion\ . Now you really need to uninstall (correctly) anything that you have installed onto your desktop.

The 7z is a .zip archive, and you can use the free tool 7Zip to open the archives.

To install Wrye Bash correctly, follow these instructions:

Installing Wrye Bash by Smooth613:

You need to install v287 then 290 as certain files needed by 290 are in previous archives.

Upon reinstalltion you need to ensure you properly install Wrye Bash and the Python Libraries. Proper procedure is as follows.

* Go to Control Panel and remove anything with the word Python in it.

* Next, uninstall Wrye Bash and delete the Mopy folder. If you used the installer version you should have an uninstaller as well.

* After you have removed everything related to Python and Wrye Bash it's time to reinstall, properly.

* Install WryePython03a from the Wrye Bash page here on TESNexus

* Install Wrye Bash 275 from the Self-Installer

* Update to Wrye Bash 287 by overwriting the Oblivion\Mopy folder.

* Finally, Update to Wrye Bash 290 by again overwriting the Mopy folder.

* Go to your Oblivion Mopy folder and create a shortcut for Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw and send to desktop.

* You're done! Double click the shortcut and Wrye Bash should launch and you're good to go.

Wrye Bash v291 will be released as a full Self-Installer version and will eliminate many of the above steps. It's currently in BETA and it's working very well, I've had virtually no problems with v291. The full release to the public should happen in the near future so keep your eyes open for it.

The Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide for Newbies is also and excellent way to get your hands dirty with Wrye Bash. Check it out!

If Wrye Bash fails to start or you are still having issues, you need to post the bug dump information here or in the Official Thread @ BethSoft for someone to look over.

Good luck!

Did you install OOO via OMOD? Or manually?
