Would such mod be a violition of rights?

Hi!

I have this mod which hides the Credits button in main menu. For those who find it annoying as it's rarely used. I wonder if such mod, in any way blocking access to the list of authors, would be a violition of copyrights and can I safely upload it to TESSource or rather keep it to myself.

Thanks.

Why is it annoying? It's not like it pops up in front of everything else when you load Oblivion... It's just one of the buttons, I would simply not press the button. How hard can that be?

I don't see how it would be illegal. Unless you're releasing the game with the mod or something. I reckon you may as well go for it. It seems to me to be the sort of interface mod that could be quite popular.

Relax, Povuholo. Some people go absolutely manic over minimalism. S/he's not trying to hurt anyone - s/he merely values minimalist forms over unnecessary tradition. From his/her post I'm guessing they don't want you to do it, so think of this circumstance as a happy coincidence - you don't have to do anything and they and all the other minimalists out there get what they want.

That's the second post of that day that people said sounded a little hostile while it wasn't... I don't know what it is. Bad luck? Halloween? My apologies. I'll add more smilies in the next posts I make to prevent this!

It's what you're saying more than how you're saying it. Rhetorical questions like "How hard can it be [to not press a button]?", which imply that making the mod is stupid and pointless because it's not hard to press a button, make you sound like an ass. Drop them and you'll sound less hostile. Rhetorical questions work well in person but rarely work in print unless you answer them straight away. But I digress.

I hope you do go ahead with it and post it up, Virion. I'd be interested in it. I can't imagine ever actually wanting to sit through the credits.

Guys, guys! Calm down! Povuholo must have a bad day and my idea pissed him off. Big deal, it happens. Anyway, Cactoblasta, thanks for your support and encouragement. The mod we're talking about has just been released.

Your idea didn't piss me of at all. I was just wondering why you wanted to have this mod, because I didn't see a good use for it (I see it now). But let's forget that, congratulations with releasing your mod

I do not see why it would be illegal. The credits can be viewed i fyou go to the data and find "credits". You are not hiding the credits, because they are still there. They can be easily viewed in the file, so it's not like you are changing who is in the credits.

EX: You make a movie and put credits at the end. The credits also happened to be included in a file. Somebody dls it and reuploads it without the credits at the end. They are still in the file you put in, so people can still see who made it. Would you be okay with it, or would you sue? :D

it shouldnt matter, i mean, like septim said, you are not deleting it or editing it in any significant way, just deleting a button that makes it appear. just like a broken link in a way, so would that be classed as illegal?
