i personally imagine tamriel to be the same size as eurasia. because where can you fit all of those cultures if it was this size

at E3 2013, Brian Wheeler, Lead PvP Designer, says that Cyrodiil is roughly 9 zones big. It’s about the size of nine of the other zones in tamriel. You can watch the interview at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Api8AzGDok0.

It only takes 1 day of carriage/fast travel to cross Skyrim north to south. Tamriel is about 3 Skyrims long. Apparently real horses can travel upto 40miles a day on flat land. All of Tamriel is probably around 200x120miles based on Skyrim. About the size of Massachusetts.

Doesn't seem much, but then again holds aren't that big, they're more like towns. Skyrim, Hammerfell, High Rock, etc. are more like modern day cities, except with lots of empty space.

Lore wise, I believe it's supposed to be 200 miles from Mournhold to Red Mountain, so that should give you a rough estimate of how big Tamriel is altogether.

Edit: I think it might be to the Island of Vvardenfell from Mournhold that's meant to be 200 miles, I can't remember.

  • 1 year later...

This information is from The Elder Scrolls: Arena official manual, so this info is pretty old and might not be accurate to this date, but it states that: "The world of Tamriel is vast, roughly three to four thousand kilometers east to west and two to three thousand kilometers north to south"
