Bobbodian
I am annoyed at how in Vanilla Obilivion (which is my favorite-sounding phrase in the world and I've already written an Oblivion freestyle rap that includes it [My name's Azazoth and I'm overencumbered / wit bitches like the Countess Umbranox of Anvil]), if you shoot someone in the face and they don't die, the arrow appears in their chest. I'm in a death-metal band called either Dethdeth or Skorcht 4Skin or Miles and Miles and Miles and Miles and Miles and Miles of Flesh (MMMMMMF) and the head song for our album Flippity Floppity Floopity Flesh is called "Shoot You In The Face" and it's about shooting someone in the face. This is how I spend my time, yes. Anyway, I've only ever done audio programming, but I think I can do this and here's why: the game must be making a POSITIVE action to move the arrow into the chest if it hits the head and they're not dead, right? Because when you shoot them anywhere else it sticks, and if they're dead or the shot kills them it sticks, and I can see why they would want to move it (because it's kind of silly I suppose to have an arrow through your head and still be fightin' like it's only a flesh wound). If this is true, that means all I'd have to do is delete some script that tells the game to do this, right? I can't find the basic weapon scripts, however. This is the problem. I'm not looking to make headshot-DAMAGE increase or anything (although I suspect that this could maybe be accomplished by editing damage into the same script as the one that says arrows can't stick into living heads), I just want to do cool poo ingame, like shooting people's faces, because I don't have the attention span to get anywhere in the main quest. I've never made a serious mod before, so help me out in finding where the arrow script is, will ya?
Abramul
I was under the impression that arrows always lodge in joints, probably because they need a parent node (or maybe bone?).
Tiberiu911
I dont really know what your talking about. I shot people in the face all the time, and the arrow remains in the face, at least when its fatal to them. I dont know about non fatal shots though. Bobbodian
I was under the impression that arrows always lodge in joints, probably because they need a parent node (or maybe bone?). You might well be right, however that wouldn't explain, I don't think, the level of accuracy possible AFTER they've died...and it seems unlikely, though not necessarily impossible, that there's code preventing arrows from being stuck anywhere but joints ONLY when the target lives. Also, my own experience with filling ogres with arrows doesn't seem to back up even that; even when the ogre lives, the arrows stick all over the chest and shoulders when I shot there (I wasn't testing for the mod though). I dont really know what your talking about. I shot people in the face all the time, and the arrow remains in the face, at least when its fatal to them. I dont know about non fatal shots though. Um. The entire freaking point of this post is that it ONLY sticks in the face when it's fatal to them.Generally you get a better idea what I'm talking about if you read the writing. And it's A-okay if you don't want to do that, but it seems a little silly to guess what I do or don't say in the post without reading it.Hah. No offense, I mean. Demon88
when i shoot an arrow, it normally goes into the shoulderblade, top of the arm, the middle of the chest, and through the mouth (when fatal) thats it. id prefer it if the arrow went through where it hit, not somewhere else
GBHis
I was under the impression that arrows always lodge in joints, probably because they need a parent node (or maybe bone?).Yerp. That's my impression as well.I think it's partly hard-coded. Arrows sticking into the face would look ODD, due to face/eye/mouth movements. This could *maybe* be "fixed" by altering some bones in the creature/human skeleton? Not a good one for starter-modders, anyway. Okay, okay, wait. I seriously don't see this at all. When I play Oblivion at least, and shoot someone in the head, AND THEY'RE DEAD, the arrow shows up exactly where the arrow hit. Just yesterday I remember an arrow ending up so far to the right of the head that there's no way it went anywhere near the center. It was like this: _____left side of the head--> (_____*) <---right side of the head-.............................................^arrowfront of the head (-- _-->................................^arrowIt basically almost grazed the head. It's ridiculously common! Just kill someone and shoot their head a couple times in different places and unless you really try to get them to do so, the arrows will NOT intersect! Besides, whether or not Oblivion can only put the arrows in certain POINTS on the head is basically irrelevant because it STILL only does so when they're dead and moves them to the chest when they're alive. I'm sorry if I was unclear about my intended mod, but jesus, people, try to focus for a second! Let's say for a second that Oblivion DOES move arrows to the nearest joint or bone or whatever, that's fine, that's cool, it doesn't really do that for me but let's put that aside. The two important things are1) When the person is alive you can shoot them in the head and if they live it moves to the chest or somewhere. The point being that it moves.2) When the person is dead or the shot kills them the arrow stays in the head. All I want to do is to cut out the part of Oblivion that makes it do 1 when they are still alive. Tell me why that's impossible, or what needs to be cut out. I don't need to know anything else. Bobbodian
Headshothttp://img183.imageshack.us/img183/8633/screenshot110yr3.th.jpg I KNOW IT'S POSSIBLE TO SHOOT PEOPLE IN THE HEAD! WILL ANY OF YOU READ MORE THAN TWO SENTENCES AT A TIME BEFORE POSTING? Er, unless you're just posting that to prove to the others that I'm right and it's certainly possible for arrows to stick virtually anywhere on the body, in which case THANK you.
