BHWolf
Currently hacking through the undead of Al Shedim, whilst already accidently finding Wenzel's sword. What exactly does a blessed blad do and how big a bonus does it give against the undead? BTW Have decided that I hate skeleton archers..... they just spoil an epic sword fight in a field of zombies. ;-) Regards
Malchik
Not actually sure. I think it adds 10 points to damage. That may be wrong though. If skeletal archers are your main trouble in Al Shedim, you will be lucky. I know what you mean though. A summoning spell or scroll is quite useful in that ruin. SerpentofShadow
Just so everyone knows the next patch for Gothic 3 is out (version 1.12). You can get it at the official site. There is a little flag in the upper right of the site to switch to english. I took on the temple in Varant with the two Orcs. This patch increases the abilities of all NPCs so for once I actually had some useful help. I let them be meatshields against arrows and spells thrown at me. Hehe. I stopped playing the other day however because in Mora Sul I tried to enter the arena but keep clipping through the ground when I do. It causes me to float to somewhere else, through the building and the sand. Thus I am unable to fight against any of the opponents. I'm hoping that a load of the save after exiting the game might work, as reloading the quick save didn't. If not, i'm going to be rather upset and hope my previous save isn't that far back. If it happens on all of my saves, then i'm blaming Switch. Anyone else have this happen or know a possible fix?
Malchik
I have no problem and I've not seen it reported elsewhere. It's probably a one off. BTW when you win the moonblade DON'T give it to Ismael. Getting in to see Gonzales requires 75% rep and 40 of the 100 possible points come from 'Presents for Gonzales'. Sounds fine except the 100 includes killing an innocent slave and betraying two people who give you quests (Hamil and Masil). It is ridiculously easy to find you can only get 70. BHWolf
Thanks for the heads up on the patch. Although I have not had anything worth mentioning here i have still been playing, but I do not fiind Varant that interesting, so I suspect I will be heading back to Myrtana and then on to Nordmar soon. BTW Having played around with a halberd and a bearded axe, I suspect that the former does have a longer reach; anyone have an observation on this? SerpentofShadow
I have a couple Varant questions... I found the second, third, and fifth key for the temple. Am unsure where to find the other two. Got the one from the slave thief out in the ruins (Yu something), got one from the merchant whose name starts with an I (i'm bad with names), and got one from Kirk. I have the quest to kill the water mages and do plan to do so. However I am unsure if killing off the nomads and water mages is like liberating the towns in Myrtana. I would prefer not to break the storyline before I am forced to make my choice. So my question is: will killing the key nomands and water mages break the story? Malchik
If you do Masil's Orgnarok quest you have to find Kalesch, the orc in charge of the temple excavation. He will tell you he has one key and wants you to get the other four. Yussuf should have told you that he sold a key to Gonzales. So, buy the key from G (not cheap) and then talk to Kalesch again. In terms of nomads and water mages only the WM Saturas has a part to play later in the story (depending which ending you choose). They do however all have quests attached, (Riordian and Vatras are escort, Merdarion has several see below, Myxir gives you info and stone tablets, Nefarius has a quest, Cronos sells the WM robe) or items/spells for sale you may want to look at . Similarly the nomads have quests you can do for experience points before you dispose of them. Merdarion's quest is very tricky to do. You must find him before opening the temple. Once the temple is opened go straight back to him. Do not kill anything yet, do not pass go, do not collect £200. Save, because he sometimes walks into the wall at this point. Then follow him. He will take you to four undead commanders. He says five but there are only four. If any one of the commanders is killed earlier you cannot complete the 'follow Merdarion' parts of the quest which is 4 lots of exp. You will still get the exp for completing the kill the commanders quest. Nefarius is also problematic. To avoid having him a permanent member of your party (and thus not easily killable) you should do the following. Clear out the cave of Haran Ho and tell him it is clear. Follow him at a distance until he gets to the stone inscription (if you get too close you'll trigger dialogue and he won't go inside). Keep to the right hand side of the cave and wait for him to start the dialogue. (You need to be at the far end of the cave). He'll teach you a spell and then start to walk out. That way he never gets stuck as a party member. As for Halberd, I think it has longer reach but don't know about impact damage. I am currently using the two handed blessed and sharpened 'Order Sword'.
SerpentofShadow
Thanks Malchik. I'll make sure to print out your advice for when I play tomorrow. Next level (level 49) I will be able to get the skills Mana Regeneration and Dark Mage. I've been loving dual wield and personally couldn't live without it. Yeah, i'm going beliar all the way this time around. So my guess is that Saturas won't be too much of a help for me. I do miss the water mages from Gothic 2 though. They had more character and I liked their voices better. Hence why I don't feel so bad for killing them, they just are not the same. You know, i've been doing all these quests for the Hashishin, have 75% in every town (except 1, forget which, the second town in Varant I believe), but my rep with them is only around 36. I imagine that only the Dark Mages and such can give me the actual faction rep. Will I be able to earn at least 75% Hashishin rep just from all the kill the nomad and water mages quests or have I missed something?

I'm curious about you think of dual wielded swords; if you do not have 75% overall then I gather you have not yet got the advance level. Do you find duel wielding any faster or that it deals more damage?Personally I have found it to be more cumbersome and so not bothered seeking the overall 75% approval score necessary to enter Ishtar. Cheers.

Cheers. I find that I can get a normal attack off a lot faster. In battles with NPCs and a few monsters I rarely have to use a quick attack to keep them from recovering. You are correct in gathering that I do not yet have master dual wield. In fact I am about 40 points short in Hunting Skill. So I will have to wait about 7 levels from where I am before I can get it. I also love the fact that if an NPC is being attacked by a horde of monsters I can rush in and use the power attack. The spin from that usually kills most of them. Plus it is easy to switch opponents. It just flows the best for my play style. I have a friend who is playing the game as well and he doesn't like it at all, so to each their own. I'm seeking the 75% for two reasons though. One is for master dual wield. The other is because i'm going to side with Beliar and they ARE some of his worshippers. :)
