snarfalarkusthegreat
Im (hopefully) upgrading from a ATI radeon HD 4550 to a ATI radeon HD 5770 or a 5830 soon. First question, Which should i get? their both the same price (with rebate) from new egg. Second, My PSU wattage is only 300. Will that be enough for either of them? Thanks. Fonger
Second, My PSU wattage is only 300. Will that be enough for either of them?no without even looking either up you'll need somewhere between 550 and 700 watts for those nice cards its a real bear to find a card that'll run on 300 watts
snarfalarkusthegreat
Well, thanks for the fast reply. Will this PSU work for either? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139018&cm_re=psu-_-17-139-018-_-Product And these were the specific cards i was looking at 5830: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150497 5770: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-150-447&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2 I would like to know if this is actually worth it, for a kid who already has a 360. urbex
I'd go with this PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151094&cm_re=seasonic-_-17-151-094-_-Product Anyways, you probably want the 5770. I'd strongly recommend dishing out an extra $30 and getting a GTX 460 though.
Fumofumo
If you don't have the extra cash for that 460, you should totally buy this 5770 instead of the one you are looking at. 1. It is cheaper with the Rebate. 2. It's a better card than the Juniper XT version. 3. It is overclocks like a beast if you are into that sort of thing... Man the lowered pricing makes me sad though. I bought mine 5770 for around 200. Still running strong..
snarfalarkusthegreat
I was looking at that msi, but its rebate ends tommorow. Hopefully it will have another. Im probably just going for the 5770 now, the 460 is just a tad too much. That PSU seems a bit nicer then the corsair i was looking at, so thanks. snarfalarkusthegreat
Thanks. Getting this psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139019 And a 5770 for sure. Thanks guys.
Paxan_1
It should work, but it has "only" 40A on the 12V rail, so it is a real 480W psu.
snarfalarkusthegreat
Thanks. I just found this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121413 which is apparently better than the 5770 i was going to get (and it comes with just cause 2!) and the same price. So if you wouldnt mind I'd like to ask if you would recommend that card over the 5770, and if that PSU will work for it. Thanks
