mdaley1992
So I'm getting a lot of blue textures appearing on armors, and occasionally black walls in interiors as well. I'm unsure of the cause, though I wonder if it may have anything to do with my recent installation of SMIM. As I was always running the same texture packs on my last mod install, and I never had these issues. I've BOSS'ed my load order, and have bash patched as correctly as I possibly could. My GPU temps never go over 50, so I wouldn't think that it is my GPU (I play plenty of recent games much more demanding than a modded skyrim and never seem to have any texture issues). All of my screenshots are too big to upload. But its basically a blank, blue mesh, as if the textures just vanished or some bullshit. It only seems to happen on certain things, mostly armor and clothes (but occasionally I get blacked out grass, or walls inside of buildings). Exiting the game and re-starting seems to fix the problem briefly, but it always seems to come back again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. BufusTurbo92
Probably SMIM is causing you trouble if you had no issues before installing it.However I'd reccomend to try to lower/optimize your textures with Optimizer and see if that works. Blank textures usually mean your GPU is bleeding: the fact that restarting Skyrim solves temporarily your texture problem is a clear sign of that.Let us know if that worked. :D
mdaley1992
Bleeding? Sorry, I'm not overly tech savvy in this regard. I'm running a r9 280x 3gb, if that is any assistance to you at all. I've just downgraded to the 'lite' version of skyrim 2k textures. Though Im still running a few of the 'Amidianborn' texture mods, armor, creatures and the like, as well as SMIM, WATER, and pure weather. I'll see if the downgrade makes a difference, and then I'll look at the optimizer mod you listed if that fails. I'm a bit wary of doing things that might break my save/game? Noortje
Textures can't break your save game they are unrelated.
mdaley1992
SMIM isnt strictly textures though. Would it be safe to remove mid playthrough if I needed to, or would I need to start a new game from scratch?
Noortje
Any mod that is purely graphical without a .esp file or scripts like SMIM is completely harmless to your save game, it doesn't affect it in any way.
bojanni
This usually means Skyrim is running out of memory. Do you use an ENB? Or EN boost?
mdaley1992
No, I dont run an ENB or EN boost. I hadn't felt overly confident in their setup. That, and I'd assumed I'd take a massive performance hit with them?
Noortje
ENboost improves performance, ENB decreases it.
mdaley1992
I downgraded to the lite packs for skyrim HD. I almost thought it solved the issue. unfortunately, it did not, hello plastic blue clothes and armor. It did seem to take a bit longer for the problem to re appear though. I cant work out if its an issue with missing files or if its a memory issue. Like I said, its a 3gb card (Im running the latest (beta(for GTA5)) drivers) and in comparison to some people with similar setups, Im hardly running an overly modded game texture wise.
