ResidentWeevil2077
No one else posted this topic up, so I'm gonna do it. This was my very first game. I remember my parents bought me an NES for my 4th birthday, and I couldn't put it down. Now THOSE were the days  ... nothing to do for the day, dad's gone to work, mom's cleaning up the house, and I'm in my room playing all day (or at least until supper). Duck Hunt was another classic I played all day. As a matter of fact, I still have an original Zapper. It doesn't work now, but I used to go hunting those ducks, and that damn dog used to taunt me everytime I missed one :D . My NES still works tho, believe it or not, so every now and again, I hook it up to my TV, and get lost in nostalgia. Sometimes, in this what I like to call the Age of Information, a bit of old skool gamin does a body good. What makes me anxious for the Wii the end of this month, however, is the fact that I can d/l all those old games and be in my glory :D . Even all my old SNES games, and even games I got for my N64. Landsknecht
Although I started with SNES, I have to admit that Mario games still rule. The first console video game I played was Super Mario World. And SMW2: Yoshi's Island was great as well. And I am lucky that they made Super Mario All Stars so that those who are not as young could experience some of the Mario NES gems. But those games (Mario/Yoshi) seemed down hill with the N64...or is that just me? I had a friend though that had an NES with a zapper, so I know what you are talking about. And I do also find that MArio went downhill for a bit during the N64 dynasty, only because carts were damn expensive to make, and the memory wasn't sufficient to go hog-wild on elaborate games (imagine if DOOM 64 had this kind of treatment :D ). However, Mario seems to be on the rebound, with a new game slated for release with the debut of Wii on the 18th in a couple of wks. I might get IT instead of an Xbox 360 ( I want to wait until it comes down in $ ).

ResidentWeevil2077
Super Mario was the first game I played.. and the first game i owned on my Famicom Disk System..those where the days.. <3Oh yeah, that's right too. The N. American NES was called the Famicom in Japan. If I can recall, that was short for "Family Computer". The SNES was the Super Famicom, and the N64 was the Ultra 64. The GCN was the same across the world methinks. The Sega Genesis was called the Megadrive, but the rest of their systems were the same in both N. America and Japan (I think, but correct me if I'm wrong, since I never really did play Sega).
Switch
Oh, so it was called Mega Drive in Japan as well? Because over here in the UK it was called Mega Drive too. Though, we still had the NES and SNES names over here, same as America. Strange. I probably played more Sega than Nintendo as I got the Mega Drive a good year or two before the SNES. Though in the end I think I preferred some of the SNES games... I had the Mario All Stars collection, including Super Mario Bros, which I thought was pretty good. ^^ But the game I really liked was Yoshi's Island. I would have loved Chrono Trigger, but unfortunately it was never released over here (at least not until recent years with Crystal Chronicles), and I was only ever able to experience it via erm... alternate methods. I hate it when stuff skips this country.
Landsknecht
^^ But the game I really liked was Yoshi's Island.. I too, when it comes down to it like SMW2 (Yoshi's Island) better than just SMW. I think it is because of the scoring of levels compared to keeping track of arbitrary points, even though SMW had more levels (some of which are almost torture to get though). I also like that in Yoshi's Island, 99 lives was not the max., lol. Also, about I month ago, I burned a couple weekends beating Yoshi's Island on the emulator on my computer. All 100s!!! Though, we still had the NES and SNES names over here, same as America. Strange. At least that's what I've come to realize. I have a few old copies of Game Players magazine lying around, and they had this section about the hottest import games (at that time), and in order for people who aren't familiar with the Japanese versions of popular game consoles, they had a legend of which was what. The NES was the Famicom, SNES was Super Famicom, Sega Genesis was Mega Drive, and so on and so forth. I too, when it comes down to it like SMW2 (Yoshi's Island) better than just SMW. All 100s!!!I managed to get all 100s on the original game, even those tough secret levels  . But between SMW and SMW2, I can't choose. As a matter of fact, I can't really choose what my most favourite Mario game is, but perhaps Super Smash Bros. and its GCN sequel SSBM were the two main games that I found to stand out quite a bit from the rest. And I can't wait for Super Smash Bros. Brawl to be released. If you've heard any rumours about Snake from MGS, yes, he will be a contender that those of us future owners of the Wii will have the fortune of playing :D . And if Rare hadn't been bought out by Microsoft, I bet you a hundred bones that Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark might have made an appearance, too. That's something I really would have liked to see ;D .
bluekatt
smb is only the best selling game by virtue of being the nes pack in gamesmb 3 is the best selling stand alone game with 18 million though even that has been eclipsed by the sims 1 and all its add ons which have shifted a staggering 50 million units
