lurchman
A few month's back, I was surfing some different Oblivion sites. I remember reading a post where some guy said he could import nif. files into Adobe Photoshop. Now I couldn't remember the site if my life depended on it. Was wondering if anybody had any info on this. What plug-in would be used to import the files.

Are you sure he didn't say .dds files? There's a plugin for that. I've never heard of getting a 3d format like nifs into a photoediting program. (Pause for google search) Here's a camera forum where someone is talking about getting the NEF format into Photoshop: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/view_to...amp;forum_id=31 NEF is an image format, not a 3d one like .nif (NEF is short for Nikon Electronic Format). I can see where a typo could cause a misunderstanding there. Just an idea...
Peregrine
I've never heard of getting a 3d format like nifs into a photoediting program. (Pause for google search) It's not just unlikely, it's completely impossible. A .nif file is a 3d model, and contains no information photoshop could even begin to interpret properly. The data involved is just that different, 2d paint programs like photoshop don't even recognize a third dimension. It's the equivalent of trying to edit sound files in ms paint. GBHis
GIMP can handle pictures, music and basic models. But - on a sitenote - I deem GIMP superior to Photoshop :) NIF files for Photoshop seems pretty strange, though. I doubt that someone has written a NIF plugin for it. That dude o' yours is prolly' bragging or "blabbing".

I just started learning to use GIMP and it's obviously the way to go for these kinds of files. Now, if I just had any idea of what the hell I'm doing, I bet it would work even better... :D
SickleYield
Try my tutorial? It's stickied on the first page of this forum (under "Make Your Own Weapons and Armor"). It's a good one for learning to retexture, which is a good step toward learning to texture from scratch. I'm currently working on making a tutorial on texturing from scratch using a UV map. I'm learning to draw folds on a skirt as we speak. :)

While we haven't learnt commas in school yet, I'm continuing the pirate style ;)
