spanishflyer
I recently installed all the files needed to have Jade as a companion, and it certainly appears where she is supossed to be, but the problem is that she looks like a big white exclamation mark over a red wall. Take a look at the attached pic and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks,Spanish Flyer
minngarm
Try manualy loading the files into the DATA folder, make sure to keep the subfolders, I believe that particular one indicates a issue with finding the mesh (or was it the texture? ><)
Paxan_1
Do you downloaded and installed the RRCompanionVault? It is essential for her, no need to activate it. Paxan
spanishflyer
Do you downloaded and installed the RRCompanionVault? It is essential for her, no need to activate it. PaxanI did install the RRC companionVault first, following the instructions and did it all manually, but just in case I will try it once more. I'm so fed-up of having lovely Veronica dressed like a monk, that I really need a change! Wish I could change her clothing to something "more comfortable".... But I guess it is not possible. Thanks to both Praxan_1 and Minngarm for the help anyway.BR,Spanishflyer
minngarm
just lauch the geck and either add items to veronicas inventory and/or modify the armor in it to have -1 DT or so, then she will slip into anything else you give her.
kato85
I recently installed all the files needed to have Jade as a companion, and it certainly appears where she is supossed to be, but the problem is that she looks like a big white exclamation mark over a red wall. Take a look at the attached pic and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thanks,Spanish Flyer The exclamation point indicates that the game is unable to find the mesh file (missing textures would render the untextured parts pink). There are several things to look for. Check your load order in FOMM, make sure you've copied all necessary files and folders, leaving their structures intact, and activate ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated (although this shouldn't be necessary as the Jade companion uses its own directory for the mesh and texture files, it's a good idea anyway.) EDIT: After reading this topic again, I'm a bit confused. Did you download the actual Jade companion mod or did you download a mod for Veronica? Changing Veronica's look is as simple as opening the GECK and changing around her inventory. If you're talking about the actual Jade Companion mod to add the Jade NPC as a companion into the game, the above instructions should work. As far as your load order, I have mine in the following order: FalloutNV.esm, RRCompanionVault.esm, Jade.esp. Note that for Jade to appear correctly and work correctly, the RRCompanionVault.esm DOES need to be checked. spanishflyer
"just launch the geck.......etc"I must tell you guys, I'm a total newbie to this game editing "thing", but amazed about the possibilities and the extra fun you get from changing things, specially when the result is beauty and eye popping females around you.. I followed minngarm's suggestion and downloaded the geck; watched the tutorial videos and my impression was and still is that in order to use this program you need some experience, actually I felt the same way I first opened AutoCad at work; I had a guy teaching me for a week in the office and managed to achieve quite a lot and felt comfortable working with it. I believe Geck will be my final tool once I get to know it, but at my age it might take a while...... So thanks for the great info minngarm. As far as Jade companion goes, I only chose her as an alternatine for Veronica and her monk suit and just because I thought I had no option of changing her "wardrobe"; now with Geck and some practice I hope to be able to "improve" her looks. On the other hand I'm pretty sure when I installed Jade, I must have placed the texture files in the wrong place, so I will try once more to get her right by reinstalling her. I'm sure I have installed several mods wrong and some that are incompatible, but to tell you the truth, I now enjoy much more to get the mods to work than to really finish the game. By the way, seeing naked dead female opponents is not my idea of what beauty watching is about; only thing is that you have to kill them before they kill you..... Thanks a lot Kato85, as I will copy/paste your instructions and print them, so I can follow them word by word. I'm not so young, but now after having had a terrible bike accident that has kept me in bed for over a year, these PC games have kept me "alive".... What can I say about Fallout New Vegas with its infinite mod possibilities. Of course this would not be possible without this Nexus forum and you guys/gals; thanks again.Spanish Flyer

Fallout Mod Manager is the best option since it allows you to modify your load order and launch New Vegas with NVSE (if you have it) and still activate/deactivate any mods in your DATA folder. As far as the GECK is concerned, I started using it knowing nearly nothing about it with Fallout 3. The GECK wiki (which is in dire need of an update to accommodate for New Vegas) got me through a lot of the things I didn't understand right away, like creating a new NPC, creating quests, and scripting. I still consider myself more or less a GECK Noob since there is a lot I haven't yet explored, but while it's a tad bit outdated, there is still a lot of useful information on the GECK Wiki Site here. Good luck.

Good luck.Hi again Kato85,To answer your first question I started downloading the mods and manually installing them. My first doubt was that even though the downloaded files contained archives with names such as meshes, textures, ASO, I could not (of course) just dump the whole new archive to the data directory since there where already archives with the same name; and even in some cases the subarchives had same name original ones... I of course went to the tedious job of adding what was contained in the archives one by one... No wonder why most of the mods never worked. Then I discovered FOMM and that made life easier, but by then I already had many "foreign" archives and files in the wrong places.Once again you bring me some extra info I didn't know about; that NVSE (which I'm going to search for and download immediately...) sounds very promising.By the way, I manually reinstalled "Jade" and even though I finished at 3:00 a.m., my wife trying to sleep while I had my full laptop screen on, IT WORKS!! Her speech might be a bit like Veronica's, but once you convince her to put something more comfortable on, she is really cute and also leaves you with very little to do when the mutants or factions atack. Now getting into Geck, I´m still at a total loss here; tried for hours to get to Veronica and found just one file in the"Class" subdirectory "VeronicaClass", I double clicked and up came another window where I was COMPLETELY lost; lots of empty squares and boxes, none of which made sense to me so I just closed the program without saving anything... I will try the NVSE just to see if it is designed a bit more for "simpler" minds such as mine. One thing is clear, I'm enjoying every bit of it and hope to improve my skills in the hours to come. I include a pic of my new companion Thanks once more for the lessons....Spanish Flyer
